I was recently told that when I talk to people via internet, I come across as witchy and cold. So...if I respond to something you post and it sounds mean or rude, I'm not trying to be mean or rude. I just happen to come across as a frigid witch. I'm not really, I promise. I just tells it like it is, yo.

That is all.

I think people forget that reading written words does not give the benefit of seeing facial expressions, hearing tone of voice, etc. I try to always remember this if someone...anyone...seems to come across in a less than friendly way.

Editing this to say that I have never thought you "cold" or "witchy".... :)

Huh? I've never gotten that impression. Maybe you need to use more smilies! :P

hey...I've been called.. too practical, too short to the point, too terse, too... whatever.

You have to look at the over all intent of the person... are they being helpful and its' just how they express themselves? Or are they just going off an a tangent?

People say whatever.. Add some smilies and most of it goes away. :) And over time you learn if people are truly trying to be helpful or if they well...aren't. :) I don't much care about the tones people seemingly use as it's all in how things are construed on-line. It is all about... are they being helpful or just being well.. not.

A lot depends on the thread. If it is someone looking for solid information it's probably best to be short and to the point. Less confusion that way. Some threads have more of a chatty tone however and then you can lighen your tone accordingly.

People think I'm rude and harsh and blahhhh w/e, too. I had to put a quote in my Horse forum signature because people never took it the way I meant it. :/
I guess we look pissed and whatnot, but that's just what we look like unless something is going on.

That's OK people say I'm a know it all
When someone says that they are doubt about my mood, when conversing with me
I tell them, that they will know when I'm mad, I'll make sure that there is possibility of mistaking it.

All in all, life is too short to be bent out of shape, take it for what it is, if you don't like it, don't participate and move on to something rewarding.

I never got that impression. There's actually been very few times when I've found people to be short or terse in their postings, and it usually seems to be just a one time deal... people getting worked up on a single topic, or trying to get out as much straight forward info as possible.

As a whole, this forum is by far the most realistic, straight forward and helpful forum I've ever been on. I don't feel like everyone here is judging everyone else on what their doing, nor is it a "my way or the highway" type deal. I normally have a hard time staying with a forum because I just don't feel welcome or wanted, and I find myself coming back here day after day to simply read and learn :).

For the time I've been lurking, I haven't noticed any terse or nasty behavior. Even conversations that are getting out of hand or straying to the emotional side are handled with grace and tact - something a LOT of forums are lacking in severely :)

I've been told that about myself. I'm too straightforward. No nonsense. Par for today's society. Long time ago, I realize I really don't care. I'm only trying to help. Not trying to hurt anyone or look down on anyone. Don't feel I'm better any anyone else. Just trying to help and participate and learn.

K :)

These days too many people are hypersensitive. I blame a lot of it on the trend in political correctness. People believe they have an actual right not to be disagreed with. If what you post isn't apologetic and self-deprecatory you are considered rude and cold. They tend to be overly defensive and people who will take what you say the wrong way no matter what you say or how you mean to say it and there's nothing you can do about it so just keep posting. I haven't seen a single thing rude or cold in your posts either, by the way.

I don't think you come off as sounding witchy or cold at all.

BINGO!!! They come on, post up something that is argumentative at best, then accuse everyone who dares to disagree and debate it with them as "bullying". There's no reasoning with them, either.

Cattle Cait, blow them off. Not worth your time or energy apologizing to them or doing so just for the sake of apologizing.
