LOL, Miss M... Soft AND warm. Even baby Angora wool could be used for felt, I think.

Re: sometimes changes are good!
Since Angora is 4x as warm as sheep's wool...WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!
My feet get so cold in the winter.
Belly wool, which really isn't much good for spinning (well, it's okay, but it's harder to spin and usually slightly soiled even with the best care) would be perfect! Or with my colony girls...where they wear off the belly wool when they start to shed....OOOOOOO!!!!
about baby angora wool...that first shed or shearing is HIGHLY prized because of it's very very fine nature and softness. There is also very little of the guard hair that some fine annoying.

I didn't realize that baby Angora wool was so highly prized, Ann. I always thought it had to come from mature rabbits to be useful for spinning. Not sure where I got that idea...

Whoa... Ann, I had no idea Angora was warmer than sheep's wool, much less 4x!
Still trying to wrap my brain around the excessively decadent softness and warmth of felt slippers made from Angora wool...

We are right to take alarm at the first experiment upon our liberties.

Re: sometimes changes are good!
A couple of expeditions to Antartica looked at making vests of Angora, with a windbreaker type coat over the top. But the Angora was so warm, they had to open the windbreaker 'cuz they were sweating so badly...in -40F temps!
American army tried out Angora in...the 30s? They thought lighter weight, warmer wool for cold weather duty clothes. (they used sheep's wool at that time) but again..it was just too warm.
