*shy wave* Hello!
Hi! I'm really glad to have found this forum, it's one of (unfortunately) rare nice ones. I've been lurking on here for a while as a guest, and just signed up.
I'm interested in starting my own herd of meat buns, but I am not expecting it to happen anytime soon. So, for the time being, I'm just trying to gather as much information as I can. Everything from cage setups to breeding practices. If you think it's useful, I'd love to hear it. I want to start right - good stock, good cages, good practices.
Thank you for your time!

Re: *shy wave* Hello!
Welcome to RT. I'm into my third season with meat rabbits and have found so much help here--reading relevant threads in the meat and natural feed forums and getting answers to my many questions, learning from others' experience.

Welcome!
I'm in the same boat as you, looking to start my meat bun adventure but not quite ready yet... And in California now! I think I need to change that in my profile
I hope you find everything you're looking for on this site, I've been having a blast doing my research here

Re: *shy wave* Hello!
If you're looking into meat rabbits, I recommend Californians. They are big, meaty, and have (eep!) fur that changes from white to dark depending on the temperature!

Re: *shy wave* Hello!
Welcome.....
For meat rabbits in a large rabbitry, I like a cross, -- like ,-California over New Zealand, -- or meat lines of Flemish over Cali, or New Zealand. But, I freely admit some of my meat-mutt breedings out perform any of these crosses... so- I believe, it is more about individual genetic lines than it is about a particular meat breed. If you only want to provide meat for your family, a good line of any good meat type rabbit will work just fine, and you won't have to worry about maintaining separate lines for breeding. JMHO...
