It seems a great way to keep babies safe. I do something similar with winter litters.
My current litter is a second generation for shelving actually, their mother was shelved too. I love the control of being able to keep them safe while they are in their most vulnerable stage, after the first two weeks there's really no reason to keep them inside unless I'm having attachment issues. :lol:
