    Cross breed vigor

How many does are you going to have? Is your objective the largest volume of whole carcass weight in the shortest amount of time with the least amount of inputs? Unless it is on a large scale I don't think rabbit x over rabbit y (all other things being equal) will make a difference.

    Meat rabbit housing density

Some important questions to answer first What are you goals with your rabbits? What production numbers are you shooting for? Are you going for maximum efficiency or a particular way of raising them?

    RAW

I usually charge $15 for rabbits up to five pounds and $20 for rabbits over five pounds. That is for a whole rabbit. For dressed rabbits I charge $9.00 a pound and $11 a pound for ground. However the market goes in waves. Sometimes I can't give it away and sometimes I can't keep up with...

one 36x24x18 would be fine. I would do a hanging cage, all metal.

Amount of pellets to produce a pound of meat?

With waste I am averaging about 5 pounds feed to 1 pound live rabbit. Since they dress out at about 50%. 10 pounds feed to 1 pound meat

Would mini lops make good meat rabbits?

agree. All things being equal, I hate dressing rabbits, doing one is always better then doing three

Whole litter of strange looking kits

Any ideas on why this litter turned out like it did? Same feed, same conditions, all other variables are the same. Doe is about 2.5 years old. Aggressively bred. I've seen deformed kits before, half eaten kits, etc. But never litters with so much variation in development. Should I try her again...

How do I get started with saleing meat rabbits?

It is very hard to make money in rabbit meat. Rabbits are a quantity business. There are also lots of laws for processing. If you want to make money you will have better luck selling breeding stock to those that want to breed rabbits on their own.

question on 5 day old kits

In my opinion the wrinkles mean they are not getting fed and are being starved. Did they send up making it?

WOOT! feed store order for me!

I would like to learn more about the ingredients you are using and the ratios. Mine love rolled oats and I add it to their feed along with some black sunflower seeds and Calf Manna for the does. If you have time please PM me and let me know what you do.

    Doe building a nest

That is a little early. Did you give her a nest box already? If her last litter was the same way and was fine I would not worry.

    Fostering Kits

We have been using the doe mentioned above to nurse all the litters. We combined them from three into two groups. One is nursed in the morning and one in the evening. We have been supplementing the smaller ones with cat replacement milk. So far we have lost none.

    Rabbit Proccessors Looking for Rabbits

I'm just curious how anyone can sell a rabbit for $1.50 lb live weight and make any money. Either you have one crazy feed conversion ratio or you pay very little for feed. With a ratio of 4 to 1 and feed cost at 30 cents, it cost me $1.20 to make 1 lb of live rabbit. Am I missing something here?

    Not a great day

I cover the drop boxes with resting pads so they don't hang out in them whey they are not with a litter. http://bassequipment.com/Home/Plastic+Pans/#Relax Resting Board like others said probably just newbies. Keep trying

    $5/Pound?

I am not sure of the laws in AZ, but I am pretty doubtful that any restaurant can legally serve rabbit that has not been processed in a state inspected facility. USDA no, State yes. I agree that you can get a restaurant to "feed it to his dogs," sign an agreement, or any other number of...

NZW vs NZR vs NZBs- Difference in weight/quality?

It all depends on what your goals are. Are they to show, make money, produce meat for your family? How many are you going to get? How much time do you want to spend with your rabbits each day? I suggest figuring out your goals and then it will be easy to determine what type of rabbit to get...
