How many rabbits are you wanting to put in the tractor at one time?
My findings were that with 10-20 rabbits and a 5 by 12 tractor I would have to move the tractor twice a day to keep them from scalping the grass.
And this was using grass that was 8" tall not mowed grass.
If I were to start...
I am the one who had the post "re posted" on this thread about rabbits dieing on pasture. I still don't have a definite answer as to why my rabbits died on the grass, but I will say that when I had my rabbits in a tractor that I moved daily I never had any problems.
My uneducated guess at...
Updated my location, Liberty Missouri.
Housing the rabbits in a cage has never been my idea of raising rabbits, but if it has to be done for their health then It will have to be done.
I was trying to give the rabbits a more free range lifestyle and minimize feed costs. For now I would like...
Currently the rabbits are in a pen, that is 40 ft. square. It is all grass, which I haven't been able to id what type of grass it is yet.
The rabbits that are having the problem are close to 5 months old and have been on the grass for 2 months with no problem until now.
I did have a batch of...
I am new to the meat rabbit journey,
several of my fryer rabbits have started getting a yellow wet matted rump area, appears that maybe they are having diarrhea to cause this.
They are being raised on grass and pellets.
I am researching to see what exactly it is, I am thinking maybe...
Its odd to me that one age group is all dieing but the older age group is doing fine.
I took the last three rabbits out of the grass pen and put them in a cage with timothy hay. They have survived two days so far. And at the rate their siblings were perishing I do not think they would be alive...
The livers looked perfectly healthy.
I am studying what type of grass they are on now. I think it might be fescue, and there is a fungus associated with fescue that is deadly to rabbits. Researching now.
First some basic info:
Breed new zealand white, and nz white crossed with nz red
age: 4-8 weeks
Housing: 20ft. by 20ft. pen on grass. I think either fescue or brome
Feed: nutrena pellet being supplemented every other day, also feeding red clover ( trifolium pratense) every other day
The...
Thank you,
$5.50 isn't bad and I probably won't find anyplace cheaper.
Still might be too much for me though, since I have tanning experience, it is just a lot of work, and I never can seem to get commercial quality.
Does anyone know of a commercial tannery that will tan rabbit hides for a decent price?
I would really like to find one that would give a good price if I saved up the hides and sent in 50-100 at a time.
Also Are new zealand white hides worth tanning or are they too thin of skin?
