I've seen a few folks use this and it seems to work quite well.

    Dispatch questions

Bigfoot and I talked about this in another thread. I didn't want to spend $50+ dollars for a piece of metal for the cervical dislocation. So I opted to use a pellet rifle. I have three pellet rifles, a Crosman 760 Pump Master, Bear River Sportsman 900 and a Beeman X2 Kodiak Silver Dual...

    Watering system

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_AuJUC1jn0 Does anyone know of a U.S. supplier for this type of system? If you have a website or link it would really be appreciated.

    Dispatching with a pellet gun...

Dispatched the kindle this morning. I used a Crosman Pumpmaster 760 with Crosman Destroyer .177 caliber pellets. This rifle can be pumped up to 10 times with a minimum of 3 pumps. I chose 8 pumps and it delivered an instantaneous kill each time. There was the expected twitching and kicking...

    New buck

I'll work on it :) He's about twice the size of our other buck (the mini) and from what I've read the Altex get to size pretty quickly. So the next kindle should be larger in the same amount of time.

    New buck

I've been using a Mini Lop as my buck. I've had three kindles from him (only one success due to first time does). But as I've read more and gained experience from you folks I've decided to get another buck for breeding. Today I got a NZ/Altex mix. He's all white, 6 months old and 8-10 lbs...

    Breeding schedule

I like the two weeks apart from each other. That would be much easier when it's time to dispatch and process as you mentioned. I'll give this a go and see how well it works. I'll keep in mind that one doe had a first kindle of two still borns and the other will be a first timer. But the...

    Dispatching with a pellet gun...

Thank you. I'm looking at next week so we'll see how well it goes. I have two pellet rifles so I'll have the second one ready to go just in case there is a problem with the first one. I don't anticipate a problem though. These rifles are capable of 600-800 fps and cleanly dispatching small...

    Buck bedding

I've had much success with tile. I had some left over from tiling my son's room so it found it's way into each cage. 24x12 so they can stretch out if they like but doesn't take up the whole cage.

    Rabbit tractor

Good question that I don't have an answer to at this moment. My son and I built a PVC tractor yesterday that is 6x4 and 3 feet tall. At the moment I'm using it give the rabbits a break out of the cages. I put the 9 week old buns in this morning for a few hours. Now I've got one of the does...

    Breeding schedule

Okay, I'd like to see some opinions on a breeding schedule. Here's my set up to provide a background: I have two English Lop does that are quite large and are 8 1/2 months old. I have one NZ/California doe that is about 5 1/2 months old. One English Lop doe had one unsuccessful kindle a...

    Dispatching with a pellet gun...

Appreciate it. :) So I'm thinking that the best spot, from what I've read and watched, is on top of the head just behind the ears and angled downward towards the jaw? Sound about right?

    Rabbit tractor

Thank you for the link. Very nice pic of your tractor. :) I'm wondering if I would have a problem. When I split up the buns into another cage from the mama doe I had two of them escape one night. Small opening in a corner of the door I didn't account for and two of the four decided to...

    Dispatching with a pellet gun...

Here's what I've got on hand at the moment: Crosman .177 7.4 grain pointed. Crosman .177 7.9 grain Destroyer EX Crosman .177 7.9 grain Hollow Point I have both a Crosman 760 Pumpmaster and Bear River Sportsman 900. YT has video of varmints being taken with the Crosman 760 Pumpmaster which...

Appreciate the link. Didn't realize that there could be that many issues. May have to put further thought into this.

    Rabbit tractor

Does anyone use a rabbit tractor? Right now I have all wire cages in a PVC hutch that is working out quite well. They're off the ground, good ventilation, automatic watering system. I try to get them all out as often as I'm able to run around the yard for some exercise and time out of the...

    Breeding in the summer

Appreciate you post. I added a frozen bottle to each cage today. We'll see how they like it. :) __________ Sat Jun 25, 2016 7:46 am __________ Well mama doe went right to the frozen bottles and sat on them. So that's a win. The others didn't seem interested but it was towards the end...

    Second kindle preparations

Bit of an update: The seven continue to do very well. All active and hungry for pellets. I've separated four of them to their own cage and kept three with mama. It's my understanding that you want to do this so that mama dries up gradually. And it also helps me in making sure that each...

    Dispatching with a pellet gun...

Bringing this back to the top. Found this while doing a search here on this topic. After looking at various methods I decided this is the route I want to go for dispatching my meat rabbits. I looked at the cervical dislocator tools from each company but I just don't want to spend somewhere...
