    hurt baby, is it terminal?

Just as an update. After feeding willow and splinting for a couple of days (which she did not like) the kit is doing really well with no visible limp. I moved her back in with some of her siblings this morning and later caught them napping in a huge bunny pile which is great because I wondered...

my doe is building her nest on the wire--please help.

Thank you everyone for your help! I am just getting ready to go move everything around, so I will let you know tomorrow how it goes. Those kits would have been goners without the cardboard and straw in the bottom of the cage.

my doe is building her nest on the wire--please help.

I went out and checked on her this morning and sure enough there were babies in two separate nests in the straw. She had 5 in a nicely made nest in the corner all covered in fur and well fed, and another three less well fed, uncovered, in a little depression in the center of the cage. I wonder...

my doe is building her nest on the wire--please help.

Thank you all for the great suggestions!! I just came in from lining her cage with cardboard and filling it up with 6 plus inches of straw, it looks quite comfy. She is back in and poking around happily :). She did NOT like being moved to a new cage while I got everything sorted, is it likely...

my doe is building her nest on the wire--please help.

I feel like I have been chasing her around the cage with the nest box. I keep scooping the nest she makes up and putting it in the box and moving the box into whichever corner she was building her nest. She just picks a new corner and starts again!

my doe is building her nest on the wire--please help.

My doe who is due to have her first litter tonight refuses to use her nest box. I have refilled with straw three times now and it all gets pulled out. The good news is she is trying to build a nest in the corner of the cage, but every time I move it back into the nest box she just rips it out...

How do I get rid of rabbit ear mites...?!

I have used mineral oil rubbed inside and out to effectively treat ear mites. I also know a man who swears by a monthly application of listerine (the mouth wash) as a deterrent. It works well for him and all of his rabbits smell minty fresh for a couple of days after!

    I have popples!!!

I will try to get pictures up tomorrow after Flutterbye kindles. I have such a sense of accomplishment and I didn't even do the hard work of having babies!

    Processing Video.

It worked, I just needed a newer computer. My 10 year old laptop might need to be replaced sometime soon  What a great video, thank you Grumpy!

    I have popples!!!

I have babies! :D Ladybug just kindled 8 and is being a superb first time mom, Buttercup is due any minute, Flutterbye is due Tuesday and is industriously building her nest, and I just caught Rosemary trying to make a hay nest in the corner so I will give her a nest box this morning. Waiting...

I couldn't get it to load either, but that could be because of my rather dated computer!

    My best friend died today

I am so very sorry. I lost my 11 year old lab this past winter and it was almost more than I could handle. I loved that dog as though she was my sister, and I will miss her until my dying day. The only solace is that I planted a beautiful tree over her and as it grows I will be able to sit...

    hurt baby, is it terminal?

I will give her a willow branch tomorrow and try to splint it, thanks for the suggestions. I will let you know how she does. I hate that she got hurt, it makes me feel like a bad bunny owner/farmer!

    hurt baby, is it terminal?

I went out yesterday to feed everyone and noticed that one of my 6 week old kits was limping. I got her out and in her own cage (she has already been weaned), but I am wondering what her prognosis might be. Her right front foot is folded over and she doesn't want to put any weight on it. She...

I need some help with deworming

I am feeding a grain mix (barley, oats, wheat, and BOSS) free feed alfalfa pellets and free feed grass hay. They have mineral blocks and get LOTS of forage. All of the other buns are doing really well on this diet, but I have been worried about this doe (she is older and surprisingly had 11...

I need some help with deworming

I am pretty sure that I need to treat one of my does and her kits for worms. I have read that safeguard for goats is what I should use, but is it ok for 6 week old kits? And at what dosage? I have been feeding a lot of pumpkin seeds to try to get her weight up and to naturally deworm her but...

    just moved out some kits

At this point I am thinking that it must be worms. Would the pumpkin seeds be enough to take care of the problem or should I de-worm her and the kits? Are the kits old enough to handle the medication ok? Even the ones I just moved out yesterday? Also what would you use? Keep in mind that we...

    just moved out some kits

I was wondering if there is anything special I need to do for some 5 week old kits that I just removed from mom. They are fed a natural diet of forage, a grain mix, and hay (mineral block provided). I wouldn't normally move them this young, but mom is an older doe who had 11 this time around...

    Tough couple of days

I am new here, also pretty new to rabbits. My goal is to have a small meat rabbitry from which I can feed my family humanely raised healthy meat and also improve our self sufficiency and resiliency in these interesting times. I started out with 2 bred does and a buck, all champagne d'argents...
