    She Bit Me!

My devil bunny gets like that, hence the name.

    Doe having trouble

Not Wry neck as far as I can tell. Most likely nerve damage due to heat or stress from trying to kindle in the middle of a heat wave. Will monitor her for awhile longer before we decide if she is actually recovering or not.

    Doe having trouble

My devil bunny is having some problems. She was due to kindle last Wednesday, but with the heat wave she gave birth prematurely and all the kits (five that I found) were still born. We have been giving our rabbits frozen bottles for the heat and I put a sprinkler on top of their shelter to...

Best way to prepare an older rabbit

Ding ding ding ding!!!! We have a winner! Great on old or young rabbits. BBQ makes everything good. :D

    Three in the fridge

Got our first three butchered today and in the fridge. Have not processed rabbit in many years, but it came back fairly well. My daughters actually helped out which was a shock. A couple months ago they were horrified that I was going to kill the cute little bunnies. Today they had no...

    Momma Bunbun kindled

Well the four survivors made it through the night and seem to be doing well. Momma has chilled out a bit. My daughter was petting her this afternoon like nothing was wrong. Wonder if she knew something was wrong with the kits and that is why she was so upset yesterday. Time will tell if she...

    Momma Bunbun kindled

Momma kindled this morning. 9 in all, one was stillborn and another 4 were found dead around 1pm. One of the four remaining is really small too. Not the best litter for sure. Not sure what is going on this time around. Momma has been pretty anti-social lately and she still is after the...

    New Kits

They are English Spotted and Silver Fox cross if that helps with the coloring id.

    New Kits

I added cotton balls to the pile to keep them warm last night. They seem happy and squirmy. They all look to be white with black spots except for one that is a tan/brown/silver color. Interesting coloring, cannot wait to see what it looks like once the hair comes in.

    New Kits

This is this bunnies first litter. She was desperately trying to build a nest and did not like the wire nesting box we gave her at all. Kept taking hay out of the box by the mouthfull and running around with it. I put in a wooden box and she settled down and started to pull a little fur...

    Question about hay

I have been feeding a mix of orchard/timothy to my rabbits with no problems so far. Lots of farmers in my area so I can always find cheap hay for sale. The main guy I deal with has good stuff for rabbits and not so good stuff I use for my chickens. He is pretty up front with the condition...

    Bunny rage?

Well today she did not bite at me, but she kept putting her paws up to keep me away and then kept reaching up trying to push the door of the cage back down. If I did not know any better, I would think that she wants to be left alone. Silly bunny. Hope she mellows out once she kindles.

    Bunny rage?

My NZ doe is being a butt the last few days. She has been more and more anti-social and today when I was doing my weekly check up, she would not let me touch her at all. Kept trying to bite at me and when I figured to leave her alone she actually charged my hand as I pulled it out of the cage...

    EEEEK the babies got away!

We have a couple of escape artists in the litter too. They will jump out the moment the door is open and then want back in once the see that is where the pellets and hay are going. Had one that made a run for it, but came back after an hour or so. They are like teenagers- eager to get out...

    Sexing the buns

That is my guess too. Both are nice growers and would make a good addition to the herd. Would give me four does, two bucks and lots of work. They are 6 weeks old and around three pounds each right now.

    Sexing the buns

Got a couple from our first litter that we may keep depending on sex. I am pretty sure with these, but thought I would get some more opinions first. Here is the first one: And here is the other. This one would not hold still for a photo! Let me know what you think.

    Oh great!!

I sexed them again. Buck and doe for sure. Now have two does and two bucks. Once my daughters saw that they were mating they thought it was funny watching the buck grunt and fall over. Guess he was spraying urine at first too. They did not think that part was funny though. They are...

    Oh great!!

My daughters took the rabbits out to play this afternoon. The took the does out and after a few minutes started to call me over to break up a fight. They were not fighting...they were mating!! Guess Capt. Janeway is really Captain Kirk! My wife sexed them when we first brought them home and...

    Pastured meat rabbits

Got an old cage and was thinking of turning it into a tractor for my rabbits to graze in during the day. Do any of you pasture your bunnies? I am curious if it would be beneficial or not. Plus the help with keeping the yard mowed would be nice.

Babies jumping out of nest, cannot get back in.

I ended up making some bunny stairs for them. Took a 2x4 and a 2x6 and laid them flat on each other. Screwed them together and bingo! Baby stairs. Just finished repairs on a better cage for them anyway. Will get it hung and move the clan to the new digs over the weekend. I will put the nest...
