Winter is coming....

Ha, I know what you mean about the temps. It hit 11 here in New Mexico the other night. We are staying around 20 at night and highs around 50. Good tip on the nail color, thank you.

    Fair price for green pelt?

Yeah, just leave the head in the skin though. :)

    Fair price for green pelt?

Green as in nothing processed. I have a lady that wants green rabbit skins so she can tan them using the brain. What is a fair price per skin?

Doe in labor - urgent question

I would give extra nesting materials and leave her until she is done. Congrats!

    Woo Hoo!

No, I purposely left it to face away from the wind. I did notice that the doe had knocked her water bowl over and have theorized that she had been wet when she entered her nest.

    Review our thinking and setup

We find that the snow days are warmer. Here it is dry and cold. Highs in the 40's at best. If the nest box is inside how long does the doe need with the kits?

    Review our thinking and setup

We are starting to wonder if we are doing something wrong. We have 2 trios, one is New Zealand white. The other is Californians. Plus we have two more does, Mama and Halo, mutts. The Californians are all pedigreed and the buck is to show in 4H. We are hoping for meat pens in the spring for 4H...

    Woo Hoo!

Honestly I dont know which direction to go with that. I am afraid she will lose them also, but then again what would keep the second from losing them either? :pancake:

    Woo Hoo!

Well, got home from trick or treating and checked the babies. Ruby lost all 8. They werent covered and were cold. when we left maybe 3 or 4 hours before they were fine. Dang it.

__________ Wed Oct 31, 2012 8:46 pm __________

wondering if it is just a first time mom...

    Woo Hoo!

Yes mam. One made a dog snack before my wife learned that warm water may help. The only reason one made it is due to the warm water. Hope he pulls through.

    Woo Hoo!

My other doe, mama, kindled today. She had five, all on the wire. With the 30 degree temps four didn't last long. One may make it. We took 3 from Ruby's 11 for her to foster. In a matter of minutes she was taking care of them and letting them nurse. Hope she keeps it up!

    Salt

I have a buck that licks his wheel constantly. We feed pellets and supplement with hay and treats from the flower garden and vegetable garden. I am wondering if he is doing it from boredom our really needs that much salt? He has used almost an entire wheel since we got him 6 weeks ago.
