In general bucks tend to me more laid back and cuddly then does… that is why when people are looking for pets I always sell tgem a nice buckling. I insist they neuter by contract- this keeps bucky a good pet if that is his purpose and is a lot cheaper then a spay and aftercare is much lower...

Keeping them hydrated during the frozen months?

For multi cages i use the farm innovators heated small animal water bottles bought on Amazon. Knock offs break. Singles just a mini submersable aquarium water heaters meant for beta tanks. Just make sure they can’t get the cord. My metal bowls hang so easy. Got mine at walmart

End of day 32 and Doe hasn’t delivered yet

If you don't have kits yet, the advice my breeder/mentor gave me was to ait a ful 40 days before rebreeding.. She said she has seen does kindle successfully as late as 39 days. Now if your doe is just overfat like my doe got on summer grass, its best to wait until she is back to a healthy...

End of day 32 and Doe hasn’t delivered yet

I am curious and I sympathize. I had the same situation with a virgin doe. Turned out she had just gotten extremely fat on pasture! Her sister however who at the time i thought was unlikely to have caught and was tiny had 5 huge kits 3 weeks ago and is a spectacular mother. Miss chubby is...

Animal For Sale Silver Fox kits from ARBA registered breeders :-)

No problem. I am waiting for the exactly right animals to come available. Personality is my most important selection, followed by correct confirmation. As witnessed at the recent nationals, solid blues are all over the map atm. I aim to do my part to change that. TIA

What caused your interests in rabbits?

Well, it is a good question. I have a rare genetic defect and rabbit is one of the few proteins I can eat without issue. It is also very expensive at the grocery store. I also homestead to save on our grocery bill and do what I can for the environment. I also think it is good for my...

Broken Ear cartilage? How to know? What to do?

Hi all! So I have had my first beveren with their beautiful ears now for just over a week. My little buck has always had a bit of an airplane floppy left ear. I moved them to the farm on Friday, and my friend who owns the property asked me if he always had that floppy ear. I said yes, he is...

    Ear mites please help

I would try with olive oil first... and treat ALL your rabbits. Apply as stated above, swap out with a clean cotton round the next day and repeat every day until no goo on the cotton. Then continue for three days after. If its really bad, then I would go with ivermictin. As stated, it is a...

So day 10 for Joys 5 fat little black wiggly kits! No open eyes yet, but they are getting there. Joy keeps the next box spectacularly clean, I don't know if it is the carefresh bedding and shopped straw but there is zero ammonia or wet in their bed. Kits are all clean, fat and glossy, so I am...

    Trying to get started

oh yes and i prefer to use wire dog cages, easy to rodent proof them with 1/4 hardware cloth, though getting floor wire here is impossible so I paid way too much on amazon. I like to dog cages, my large rabbits can stand right up! And easy to find free or el cheapo.

    Trying to get started

Hello and welcome! Lots to learn but I personally find rabbits even easier then chickens all around! Same principles appy... keep them out of wind and wet. Cages also depend on type of rabbit as well as housing. I keep beveren and silver fox... totally fine in quebec winters. We get a...
