    Pushing Poop

Love the corrugated pusher, MSD, that's super cool. Our roofing is scrap & all different, so that wouldn't work here. I have about 6" clearance. Now using a long handled hard brush - not quite long enough! I hate the sound/feel of the hard brush on the metal roofing & would not be able to...

    Pushing Poop

For those of you with roofing or slant boards under wire cages, what do you use to push the poop that doesn't roll off? Did you make it or modify something that already exists? thanks!

I've decided I hate my cages.

My 1st used cages were several 10' eight hole cages, 30 " deep, with shared feeders in the swing down doors. There are many things that I hate about them, like trying to open the doors with feed in the feeders! But. I have cut them into 5 foot lengths & taken out dividers & added baby saver...

    Colony nest watch

Good news: The first doe kindled in nestbox - 4 kits, on 10/4. Doe #2 kindled in same box, managed to get 3 of her 4 kits in along with her hair. It was easy to tell what happened because the rew doe had white hair/pink kits, & the blue doe all blue. Bad news: Immediate rat attack during...

    Colony nest watch

It has been about a month since we started this colony with an American trio. Today the nestboxes went in & the buck got crated. We will probably hang him up in a cage in there when the kits start to move about, but will have to make a urine diverter to do so. I am very excited about this...

    Recipe needed for Tough rabbits

Definitely age in fridge & I think your Pressure cooker is the way to go. I have not cooked rabbits much over a year old, but here's my old rooster secret recipe: skin rooster for ease of butchery. cut back open to flatten. salt & pepper him. smoke @ 185/200 for 2 - 3 hours or so. rooster...

Can you sell rabbit manure or better to have worm castings?

I use some & sell some. I sell it for $7 per 5 gal - old feed sacks hold 10 gallons with room to close this way. We are in an urban area, & gardeners usually buy 10-20 gallons. W

    Cunitec software

I'm trying Global Pedigree - here: http://www.globalpedigree.com/ - was using breeder's assistant, but really wanted an online database so that I can work from different computers/remotely. . . Global Pedigree has a free trial, and when/if you start to pay, no matter which plan you choose, the...

    Here's a keeper

mamasheep, the silvering looks sort of like a symmetrical patchwork quilt at this stage - she will continue to silver. I have a small pedigreed fox herd & a small meat cross herd. This will be one of my 1st homebred foxes that I'll keep.

    Supporting the rabbitry with sales

thanks so much for the replies - your different approaches are very informative. akane, I agree with you about the value of knowing/loving what my family/pets are eating vs. selling rabbits then buying meat at store. I forget about figuring in the cost of 'meat we would have bought, if we...

    Supporting the rabbitry with sales

Let's say you wanted your rabbitry to support itself with sales - break even or a little extra. I like the idea of a desirable breed for sales plus meat for the household. how would you set it up, ideally? can it be done? sell breeders? pets? meat? number of does for a family of 3-4 with...
