Without knowing what reader the person is using I can't give specific instructions, but it should be as simple as visiting your feed url(s) and copying them into the rss reader.

Alternatively, at your main feed url: blogs/athomepets/feed/ you can use the select box at the top to choose your reader and subscribe directly from that page.

If this doesn't help, ask them for more details about what they're using, or what problem they're having with these methods.

what is a RSS feed???

Here is a fairly non-technical explanation of RSS for ya. And, of course, there's the wiki for more information.

In a nutshell, it's a stripped down page which lists posts that can be easily read by an RSS reader, screenreader, or browser (including text based browsers, I think). Your feed will update every time you make a post, and the most current version is always available at rabbittalk.com/blogs/yourblog/feed/

There's also a comments rss feed available, which will show recent comments and update itself when you get new comments. This might be useful to some people for getting notification of comments on their blog. The url of that feed depends on the permalink settings in wordpress.
