I've been breeding rabbits for about 6 years now.
Been focusing on temperament for the last 2 or so years.

The young does that I have kindling now are just so sweet and nice tempered.
It's such a joy and pleasure to work with them.

To handle their babies.
To not get growled at or have to watch myself from a lunge from a cage/litter protective doe.

It's just SO nice.

It's not that my older does weren't good...but I'd get ones that you'd have to watch and they could at times be unpredictable. It's just lovely. Granted they have this goofiness about them that I find cute...but they are good buns. :)

Sounds like you've got some keepers :)

Most of mine are this way, they are sweet tempered and totally trusting of me with their babies. I have one or two that I have to be careful with as well. I agree, much nicer not having to worry.

That's awesome! Even better that you are starting to see the benefits of your hard work over the years. I love my sweet does, it's so much nicer knowing you can reach in the cage, and not be chomped! I just got one doe out of quarantine, she birthed her litter in the rabbitry, and when I reached in, she lunged and chomped before I knew what happened as I was replacing the nestbox after kit check. Normally I don't stand for that, but it was a brand new litter, and she hasn't shown any other aggressive tendencies since. I ended up with a nice bruise, and scab on my arm though.
