So my wife is disabled, in a wheel chair,
and it's kinda hard to get a job, cause you know
the have set aside jobs in government and 'participating' private employers

Well she worked advocacy in WV with ADAPT, and really like the the job, cause she's been involved in it for, well since she was 16
She ended going to DVR trying to get a job, after looking for about 5 months (but not too hard, that's a different rant)
and the next day she gets a call out the blue from an disability agency she'd applied at for two different jobs (that took 60+ days to get back that she didn't get them after the interview)

Well, it's right up her ally, and basically they offered the position and never published the opening,
I guess that should have been a red flag, BUT we have friends who work there, but not on the advocacy side.

Well, yesterday was her 90 day
in 3 months, they haven't trained her
they have NO guidelines including the original grant paperwork for the grant she is supposed to oversee (and signs on the bottom line spending state money)
they don't know who she is is supposed to send her paperwork to at the state, there is ONLY 1 person in the state that knows this grant, and she's out due to surgery, and her bosses refuse to let her contact the state directly, so everything is second hand and they tired of her bugging them asking how to do X, as it's in the book, but they haven't read the the book and no it's not, cause the book is the application package and 2 emails, NOT HOW THE AGENCY IS SUPPOSED TO ADMINISTER THE GRANT!!!!!!
she has had 3 supervisors, 1st knew what goes on and how the Independent Living Advocates work, but she got removed for 'cause'
the next two have NO CLUE, and don't care, and won't get out of the way, instead the knock her down every time she shows initiative.

90 days
the don't have her accommodations in place
60+ days she didn't have access to the central record keeping program, and had to do everything on paper
she has dragon naturally speaking, a program that is NOTORIOUS for not working with any background noise
one of her bosses uses a 'sonic wall' sound machine, which shuts her down
They fired the receptionist, who was the person who helped her do physical stuff like make copies etc.
she asked for an assistant for one or two days a week to help her file stuff etc.
they are 'thinking about it' which means no, but they won't say no, cause that would be refusing an accommodation

BUT SHE GOT HIT ON HER REVIEW FOR FAILING TO HELP HER COWORKERS, she has been ordered to assist others, but nobody will help her
and her asking for help from the other ILA, is 'taking other employee's away from their work'
She isn't seeing enough clients, even though she sees all the walk-in's
NOBODY refers clients to them, cause the agency has burned most if not all their bridges with the other local agencies
So the get to be a 'provider of last resort', means lots of sex offenders, abusive clients that other agencies refuse to work with etc.
How are you supposed to get clients when nobody returns your calls and messages get filed in the trash can?

The person who held the job previously, told her she'd quit for basically all these reasons. The files are in shambles, I hope the state audits them, cause she has basically nothing from before her, and has to build the files from about nothing.

But the Kicker
her supervisor told her that she needed to work on her personal hygiene
refused to elaborate, other than it's a 'issue'
really, first time anybody has said ANYTHING to her.

Oh, and she doesn't keep her office clean enough, never mind that the agency has 'missed' appointments, where she couldn't see the people who are supposed to set up her office and got into a pissing contest with DVR over who pays for what.

The entire place is a stupid excuse, the can't even halfass it and they know it but just don't care
that's what sucks, the entire place just doesn't care, and instead of providing a supportive environment, my wife is encountering the silent wall
no, it's not discrimination, just avoidance. And the supervisors, GRR, if I was in the army, I would have them in front of the SGM getting their ass handed to them

Now I know why the refused to let her have her DVR counselor present.
Some of what was said, I'm pretty sure she could sue for discrimination, as it's certainly a hostile work environment.
I'm tired of her coming home and crying.

Oh, and did I mention this is a disability services agency??

sorry to hear of her struggles. I'd personally go around the supervisor who sounds like is protecting him/herself.

JAck, you gotta go up higher-- really, I know you can do it---and where grant money is involved, especially from th government, they money MUST be administered properly--- Your bride should not be coming home rying-- she should feel like she accomplished something positive at the end of every day...
