I'm vegging here for a little bit after a truly exhausting day mentally. Our car that was totalled in May still had a number of good parts (almost everything under the hood was new), so we were going to sell it at auction. Today we found out that apparently it's been stolen by the towing company that took it from the accident scene. We've filed a stolen-car report with the police, called the district attorney, our attorney, and the state department that licenses towing companies (they also broke numerous other laws and regulations and will probably get their license yanked). As soon as the police report is finished (hopefully by Friday), the district attorney will likely be filing criminal charges, and we'll be filing a civil lawsuit. Every police officer in town (and a lot of other people) will be rejoicing if this company gets put out of business.
