A chicken snake got into my rabbitry this afternoon. It ate my nice, big, healthy Californian cross kit and bit my Californian doe. :furious:

Oh, NO! I'm so sorry! Is the doe going to be ok?
That's really unfortunate. But snakes do keep down rats and mice. Rats, especially, are far worse to contend with than the odd snake. Hope your doe is okay.

I'm sorry you lost your kit. That sucks. I hadn't thought about snakes and kits...but considering kits are one of the primary food sources for snake owners,....I just never made the connection until this thread. <duh>

Ugh! I'm sorry to hear about your cross. I hope the doe is doing well. I haven't seen a snake around here in a long time, but now that we've overcome every other problem known to man in the rabbitry, I suspect that will be next.

The doe seems to be doing good so far. She has a gash across her nose that was bleeding yesterday and small clumps of hair pulled out, but other than that she seems fine.
