Hi, ya'll. Like the site lots of info!! Just getting into Rabbit Biz and getting set up. What is the ideal Sq ft/ of cage per fryer rabbit?? Also looking into Building an outdoor type of hutch to house the fryers, as to not take up too much room in garage. Where the breeding rabbits are. Any ideas or designs on an outdoor type of hutch for fryers?? Looking to build something to house 25 - 50 fryers.

Normally, one is going to wean about 6 weeks and process by around 12. It would be better if you spoke of number of litters as opposed to number of kits. In my rabbits, 3 litter averages from 24 to 30 rabbits. The important thing is that there are three groups used to growing together. A litter 6 weeks old can be raised together in one 30" x 40" (or larger) pen until they are 12 weeks old. So, if you are going to have 6 producing does, you might want 6 30"x40" cages. If you are going to try and sell your fryers at 8 weeks it is better to have larger doe cages and raise them with mom until that time. To have commercial size fryers by then, you are going to have to select for does that will keep lactating more than the 5 weeks or so that is common with most.
