Hi. My name is Tiffany. I just DECIDED to breed meat rabbits the other day. I have not started yet. I figured with no experience whatsoever I would lurk the forums and ask the newbie questions before I actually start breeding.

I have never had rabbit before either.

I also want chickens.

So hello.

Hello Tiffany,

We were all new at some point! There is a lot of great information to be found from the experience here.

Welcome to both of you! :hi:

Tiffany, if you are completely new to rabbits you want to start slowly. It might be a good idea to get a few months of experience of general rabbit care under your belt before taking on too many rabbits and attempting to breed them.

Oh yes. I plan on getting maybe two to three young does and a buck. Raise them up until they are mature (and I get a hang of things) and then dim the lights, pour the champagne, and light the candles...LOL.

I had a pet rabbit many years ago but this is going to be a different situation.

Western Pa, huh? Boy, this neck of the country is getting THICK with RT members! Welcome to the group-- you will soon be permanently and terminally infected with Rabbitosis. GASP!!! I'd entirely forgotten about Rabbitosis Humorosis! Considered by some to be the least socially acceptable of the infinite strains of Rabbitosis...

I am new too. Our zoning won't let us have chickens so I decided to go with rabbits. I bought myself a group of 4 rabbits from someone who was done with them. From what I got from talking to him he did nothing to try to educate himself on rearing rabbits & just gave up. I suggest doing a lot of Googling the subject. I think I have read just about every page about raising rabbits for meat on the internet! I can't wait for kits!!!

Welcome!
The most common mistake I see in new breeders is poor documentation. So my advise is when you start breeding make sure your records are detailed and accurate!
Anyone who is doing research as you are first instead of just jumping into it will do well!
