Both DS13 and DS8, unbeknownst to each other, have informed me in the last few days that they want Rexes for their birthdays (both in July)! They've never even SEEN a Rex! (Just heard DS17 and me rave about how soft their fur is.)

Now, Rex is the only other breed (besides Brazilians and Cals) that interests me (don't care a lick about showing), and I've been planning to have Rexes SOMEDAY, but . . . I wouldn't even know how to go about finding any--no one seems to have anything but NZs and the occasional Cal around here.

What a wonderful hobby for your boys to get into! So much to learn and do, they won't have time to get into any trouble, they'll be too busy raising the perfect rabbit. Also, you might not be interested in showing, but I'd get a little literature for them anyway. They might be the ones that would love to show, and would learn all the qualities that are desirable and undesirable... it may just open up a whole world to them! :D

They're in 4H, and they've been to shows. They said they might like to give it a try, but they weren't too enthusiastic. Until last month, we didn't have any showable rabbits. They're actually more interested in meat pen than fancy breed.

Oh, okay! That's just fine as well... wish I could help you find some Rexes, but I'm in Florida... definitely not near you! I looked at the HT breeders' map, and there were only a few listed in Texas, and none of them had Rex. :(

Obviously, there have to be more than three people breeding rabbits in Texas. I don't see any on the ARBA site or other sites. You might try contacting Texas A&M. :)

This is what comes up on the http://www.arba.net/Breeders.php/ ARBA page for breeders. YOu could contact breeders and see if they know anyone close by.

Oh, they belong to me, of course! (Well, I'll let DS17 have one, too. . . or maybe a doe for him, as well, so that we have a trio. . .)
