So I joined a few FB rabbit groups, just to keep an eye out for decent rabbit sales, and it finally paid off!! I got 16 Rabbits 12 cages that total 17 holes, a tone if feeders and water bottles, a bucket of salt licks and roughly 17 nest boxes. The price for ALL of it? Only $100!!! I am planning to keep 3 of the rabbits, I sold one rabbit to a friend of mine, and gave her dad a different rabbit as payment for helping me gather all the hutches. The rest are headed to freezer camp once old enough (one is already there....mean little.....). I do have my work cut out for me as far as cleaning and repairs go though. I apologise for the poor pictures, but I know that I have to prove it. Also the rabbits are only in temporary housing right now.

Now and then you can score big! Congratulations!

I do have a few comments about the downside of a deal like this. I could be completely wrong, but it rather sounds like the previous owner ran into problems and is getting out of rabbits entirely. There may be disease issues like pasteurella or coccidiosis. You should completely quarantine the new rabbits from your old stock, and yes, sending them to freezer camp is a good idea. As you bring the old cages into use, they need to be thoroughly sanitized as well as repaired, and then if possible set them out in the fresh air and sunshine for a week before using them.

It's certainly nice to be able to get so many cages (and rabbits) for such a low price, but you do want to make sure that it doesn't come back to bite you later on because you didn't take proper precautions.

The rabbits are all in quarantine, and I know about the cleaning and repairs that I have in store for me. The people had to sell their rabbits as well as poultry and pony, because they are having to move into City limits to be closer to their jobs, and their kids weren't holding up their part of the daily chores. The REW is the one that has already been sent to freezer camp, and all of her organs looked healthy other than some fat buildup around her kidneys. I am also treating everyone if them for ear mites because the buck (the oddly colored one) has ear mites, so I'm just assuming they all do despite no visible evidence

Sounds like you've got it all under control! :D

My apologies if my cautions were overkill, but we have such a mix of new members - rookies and experienced - that I figured it wouldn't hurt to come on a little strong.
