So I went to the midsouth exotic pet expo in Nashville TN. My friend Bethany and I had a LOT of issues with other people that were selling rabbits, but it was over all a TON of fun......and I came home with a doe(ling?) For my dwarf buck. I'll get a picture of her tomorrow. She is a bit under weight, but that's not hard to correct. I don't actually know too much about her though. I was told that she is a Netherland dwarf/Mini rex cross but I'm taking that with a grain of salt. Other than my friend Bethany it seemed most the rabbit breeders we're HIGHLY questionable (7 total). The vendor my girl came from had very poor set up where the rabbits had no where to hide or get any comfort away from the prodding hands of children as they were displayed in a small and shallow Rubbermaid, the smell from this thing was horrid (it was only an hour after the expo started and today was the first day of the 2 day expo), the rabbits were wet with urine because the straw bedding was flooded, and one of the two vendors at the booth got really irritated with me because I decided to do look over of this rabbit, and actually knew what I was looking for. I also had to explain what transition feed was to this vendor after I asked if they gave any with the rabbits. When I asked if they gave transition feed I was looked at like I was a moron, and told it's just normal rabbit pellets they. That's when I told them what transition feed is and why I had asked about it ( I did not like this person. She was rude to every customer that was there, was EXTREMELY rude to me about the general questions I always ask when buying a rabbit (such as general age, if there is transition feed, what the gender is even though I check myself anyway, ect.), and was aggressive with handling the rabbits. I did however like the sweet old lady that was a vendor for the same booth. She was kind to everyone, extremely polite, and handled the rabbits with extreme care). Another vendor sold UNDER AGED children a rabbit without their parents' permission (actually illegal here. Parents are required to be present for sales such as those for any person under the age of 18) ,and refused to take back the rabbit under any means when the parents said no to having the rabbit, so now my friend Bethany has what was said to be a Dutch rabbit, but looked Dutch mixed to me ( I didn't talk to the vendors that sold the rabbit directly. This is information that my friend told me after having this rabbit dumped on her at the expo). Two other vendors where passing off rabbit kits that looked WAY too young to be away from their mothers, as 8weeks or older (mini rex kits that looked maybe 3 weeks I was told was 8weeks, and new Zealand kits the same size as the mini rex I previously mentioned also were supposedly 8 weeks). Anyway that was my issues with 4 of the 7 vendors with rabbits (the other 3 being my friend and 2 other vendors who's rabbits were also so comfortable, clean, and happy they were also playing with the people who came by). All of this is simply what I personally saw/smelled myself. All in all it was a lot of fun though. There were a ton of different reptiles and birds and what not. The ones that stood out the most to me were the Capuchin monkeys, mini pigs, munchkin cats, and caiman. Pictures of my new girl to come!!!

__________ Sun Oct 22, 2017 11:08 am __________

Here are her pictures as promised!!
