So I don't know if there is a whole lot of verity that can come from this mix, but my black silver marten doe was bred to a black otter buck. Talking to her old owner it sounds like the doe at least was capable of producing magpies. If my education is correct magpie and silver marten are all part of the Chin gene?

Yes. Silver marten is an otter with the chin gene. The chin gene is recessive so unless your otter carries chin (or sable, himi or rew which are recessive to chin) youll probably get mostly black otters and no silver martens

Hm, ok I think the lady I am working with said her buck could produce Silver Martens jsut that she was having an incredibly hard time of doing so. Out of the two of use I have been having a lot of luck on the color genetics side. ^^;
