Hi, I have tried identifying these plants because our yard is covered with them and I would love to be able to feed them to the buns. Nothing I have found seems to be exactly right. The one kinda looks like wild violet, but I've never seen any flowers on it. The other one kinda looks like purslane? Thanks for any help you can give me.

It's really hard to identify plants from just a mass of leaves. A better look at the stems and even roots would help. Even the smell of the crushed leaves can be helpful in some cases.

The first one might be one of the mallows - perhaps common mallow (Malva neglecta) or roundleaf mallow (Malva rotundafolia). There are many mallows and the leaves and flowers differ on them.

The second one does look like purslane, but I can't be sure. Purslane does have very small, yellow flowers along the stems late in the summer. Do a google image search to find and match more pictures.

This link has an excellent slideshow with pictures of various parts of the purslane plant.

Overall, this seems like an excellent site for finding plants for rabbits. I suggest you bookmark it for future reference. I have!

Both purslane and the mallows are excellent plants for rabbits. :)

I think you might be right, Alforddm.

I'd never heard of it until now. It doesn't grow this far north.

I have the stuff rampant in my yard and it took forever to get a good ID (2 yrs I think ). I knew it wasn't mallow or violets because it never flowered. Finally someone suggested the Dichondra sp. and yep that was what it was.

It is edible btw.

The first one looks similar to the creeping Charlie which is all over my yard. I have to be careful not to pick it when harvesting the greens for the rabbits.

It's definitely pony foot, thanks alforddm. I never would have found that on my own. It was never mentioned anywhere I looked. Once I googled pony foot it came right up and that's what it is! And it's edible, what a plus!!!
