Hi! I'm new to Rabbit talk. I am a brand new rabbit breeder. I currently have 5 pedigreed English spot rabbits. I was wondering if anyone else here has this breed, and if anyone breeds in/near Northwest Tennessee. I have one buck and one doe that are un-related to each other. Then there is relation between them all other wise. My doe has 2 kits that are half siblings to my other two rabbits, so I am looking for new bloodlines along with general talk about the breed

:welcome:

Welcome to RabbitTalk, TeaTime (you’ve sure got an appropriate moniker if you’re breeding English Spots)!

I love the look of English Spots, but I don’t have any or plan to have any. I’d love to see your rabbits, though! (We’re very photo-motivated here). Hopefully some of the other members will chime in and you’ll get to converse more about the fabulous breed you’ve chosen.

TeaTimeBunnies is also the name of my rabbitry. It was picked out when we were going though a list of ideas I came up with and jokingly said it after we didn't really stick with any of the others. Then the name just caught on and stuck.. I don't have a picture of my buck and one of my doe's right now. They are at my mother's until I get the chance to pick them up. My doe and her kits aren't show bunnies, but they are still lovely. The kits are both charlies. I'm still figuring out how to post pictures, but I'll get some up when I figure it out

__________ Fri May 05, 2017 12:51 pm __________

Here is my doe and her kits. I will try to get a better picture of the kits though. It's a bit difficult to see them

Well this little lady is leaving my rabbitry today to live a life of luxury as a pampered house pet for a sweet little girl who fell in love with her the day she was born and bald. This is also my first rabbit sale. Now I can look to my mom and tell her that I CAN sell my babies (she doesn't think I'd be able to sell my bunnies because I'd get too attached). Now all I need to do is breed a meat litter and show her that I can eat something I've raised.

These pics make me want to sell my meat mutts and go purebred. I love spotted buns! My issue is, it sure would be hard to eat them. I already noticed if one is 'different' its impossible to butcher. I kept back 'runty' because she was the runt. Even though she's not so runty these days, she still has curly ears, making her the stand out. And therefore impossible to butcher.

I think I'd have a bit of difficulty butchering my purebreds too, that is why I'm going to get a meat mutt momma soon. I think I'll try some babies with the meat momma crossed with one of my purebred bucks, and then decide if I want a meat mutt buck too. Those curly ears sure sound adorable though

__________ Mon Jul 03, 2017 12:16 pm __________

I'll be getting an up to date picture of him some time soon, but I managed to scrounge up the baby picture of my buck that his breeder sent me before I had picked him up. This can at least give y'all an idea of what he looks like

Oh, he's cute

Thanks!! Sadly I think he has too many stray spots to be shown, but hopefully being paired with my black doe, who only has a few spots, the kits will be well spotted.

I got my up to date pictures of him. He looks way younger than he is in one picture

I'm planning to breed him with my proven doe (the black one) when he matures around November/December time frame. I'm hoping that mixing his high amount of spots to her low amount of spots can give a couple of well spotted and possibly show quality patterns

We have our first litter of this month, and the second litter of the year!!! It's a small litter, but everyone seems healthy. Colors are 2 gold, and one black

Sadly I lost the little black kit to choking, but the other two are growing huge fast. They are starting to open their eyes 4 days early!!! :p
I don't have really recent pictures as I've been watching my mom's house for the past 4 days but here is one weeks growth. I don't have a scale yet for weight, but you can see the difference

Well I just lost my 4 month old black buck to...... something. I have no idea how he died or what caused it. So frustrating. He was the non related buck in my herd, and the breeder I got all my rabbits from JUST sold his mother to a pet home like a week ago. I love her though, because we work so closely together she is helping me search for another breeder that isn't more than a state away from us. Any one else breed English Spots? I now have a hole open for a buck

__________ Fri Oct 27, 2017 8:56 am __________

I got 2 new breeders to my herd!!
