In a litter of five, I got two REWs, one suspected chocolate chestnut and two light kits. I thought they were blue chinchilla and blue harlequin...but now I'm thinking maybe lilac chin and lilac harlequin. I tried posting this on another rabbit board and got no opinions. They are 3 days old.

The agouti looks blue based, the other looks lilac based
The agouti might end up opal, or something, and not necessarily blue chinchilla/squirrel
You might want to wait for them to grow up a bit though

They are a week old now. The chin is definitely chin, not agouti. I just couldn't tell if it's blue or lilac. It is looking blue to me at the moment. The harlequin, I still can't tell for sure. The colors are so mixed, that the grey looks lilac in most spots, but there are some darker areas where the orange isn't mixed in that makes me unsure.

And for the new question... I have black chestnuts and what I'm suspecting is a chocolate chestnut... but I've never had one before and I can't tell if it's actually chocolate or if it just has intense rufus. The top of the tail is orange, where on all the black chestnuts, their tails are super dark, almost black. Is it difficult to tell chocolate agouti from black agouti at this age? Or would it be really obvious? Does it look like a chocolate agouti to anyone?
 
Chocolate agouti will be born chocolate looking rather than blackish. They will also have chocolate ear tips rather than black ear tips.

When mine get older my chocolate agouti often look like reds for a while. <br /><br /> __________ Sun Jul 16, 2017 9:45 am __________ <br /><br /> On the other kits it looks like you have an opal and a blue/fawn harlequin.
 
Thank you, Alforddm, for the pics. I can see that it should be obvious.. .. I was confused because I've never had a chestnut this "light."

The blue chin in question is definitely chin, not opal. Not a lick of tan anywhere. She came out of a squirrel mutt doe that's carrying ej (but doesn't show a single stray mark). When I bred that squirrel doe to a champagne buck, I got some harlequinized kits. I held one back with an obvious black blaze on his face and bred him back to his mom... and that's how I got the blue harlequin kit. I think this blue chin kit might have some marks on the chest and belly that indicate it's got a copy of ej:

So the consensus is that they are both blue based, I guess. I wish I had more cages. Really wanting chocolate harlies and agoutis. I know the squirrel doe is carrying chocolate, but I'd have to try and guess which kits carry it. <br /><br /> __________ Mon Aug 07, 2017 6:39 am __________ <br /><br /> Still blue harlequin, right? The harlie is a boy. Lol. All the good ones are, aren't they? He's been named Orion and for now, I plan to use him to replace his daddy (assuming he grows out nicely - currently he's one of the biggest kits)

The chestnut that I kind of thought was chocolate is just so incredibly light, it's almost orange. It has black lacing on the ears, but aside from that, very little black anywhere else. It is a sibling to the harlequin. The other chestnut in the pics looks identical to all the other chestnuts (which is what I get from my lynx/opal does crossed to my champagne buck). The mothers of these kits are half-sisters... the father to the regular chestnut is grandfather to the lighter chestnut. It's amazing how different they look, even though they share a lot of genes. I think the light one is a little doe. I'm not sure if her color would be particularly useful or not... but she's darn cute!
