I have a Kromski Prelude at the moment, I picked it up from a friend that wanted out of fiber art as it wasn't her thing and she wanted $300 for it. Its been a good wheel and I don't intend to sell it, I'll keep it for slower ratio spinning and letting friends learn on, but a castle style, double treadle wheel would be more comfortable.
The last few years I had been looking at the Majacraft Pioneer. I have spun on a Majacraft Little Gem before and loved it, and the Pioneer is their base model (much closer to my price range, but similar set up though it doesn't fold up), but it went up in price recently, so for nearly the same price I can get a Kromski Sonata, which is one of Kromski's nicer wheels, and still use all my bobbins from my Prelude. Not to mention it says you have to have different Jumbo flyers for the two wheels but it does *look* like the one from the Sonata will fit the Prelude, though the one for the Prelude would be missing parts for the Sonata. Buying two wouldn't be terrible if it didn't work because Kromski is in my experience well built, but cheaper than most other brands, and Jumbo flyers for both wheels are only $92 each.
So my question is this, has anyone spun on a Sonata? I have read a lot of reviews and they are mostly positive, by I'd love to be able to ask someone first hand. Any info would be appreciated! Thanks guys!
