...travelling that is. :fireworks1:

I have finally found a place I can have all my projects in one spot. No more moving the herd every spring/fall. I can start working seriously on improvements and colours. The herd has an actual lockable building so I can worry less about predators (two and four legged)
The pack has a fenced yard, no more leashed pottying five dogs :x
No more driving all over the county and being away from home over 12 hours daily!

I can have a garden, albeit a small one but still a garden!

Of course there's downside, the house itself isn't great but I know exactly what it needs so the trade off is livable and my rent will be a bit less than now. We move the end of August!

What wonderful news!!!

You will be thrilled with having your herd at home- I sense great things to come! :p

Congratulations :)

I bought an old house 1 1/2 years ago, it's so great to have space for everything, 2000m² land, with sheds and all, own well, a creek running by, small wood (heating for some years when I cut it down) and the house is old, the core well over 100 years, it's at some places 70cm stone walls keep it cool all summer. I never wanted to live in one of these new houses.

I always lived in rented apartments before, but here the law is that a rent contract can be limited to 3 years, and expanded once, then it turns to permanent - and then even if a tenant stops paying most of the due rent and let the apartment detoriate it's almost impossible for the landlord to get rid of the tenant, too many socialist laws. Many houses here are vacant, because that's just less fuss and risk.
In the end, these laws to protect tenants backfired :eek:hsnap: , making available living space quite expensive.

So I had to move every 5 years because no landlord wants any contract to become permanent, it kind of felt like being "Dr. Kimble- The Fugitive". The last place was great, big garden, and I started with rabbits. I would never have found something like this for rent again, so I had to buy a house. And with the current situation in the EU I'm quite happy that my money is not on the bank anymore

I think you have more reasonable laws and rents over there, so good luck with your new domicile :)

I swear if any project I take on ever goes smoothly I'll very likely die from shock. The house is doubtful for being ready when we need it, even with us helping with the work. The landlord has been dragging her feet, I have a feeling that she doesn't realize how little time we have left since she hasn't hired anyone to do the work required but is doing it herself. *sigh*

As soon as we figured this out I put out an SOS on facebook and several very good friends came through in spades for us. We found a cute little house, fully fenced with a garage for half the rent we're presently paying. The landlord knows about and is good with my zoo. She has rabbits too :D

We haven't seen the inside yet but the pictures I've seen put the first place to shame. It's been renovated (properly) since the owner was planning on selling before we were introduced. I pretty much told her we'd take it as soon as I heard what she wanted for rent. We just have the paperwork to take care of now and it's ours, as soon as we have the keys I'm letting the landlord in Wetaskiwin know we aren't taking the house because she won't be ready for us.

It isn't an acreage or in a small town but it is in a quiet neighbourhood and everything is still in one spot. It's close enough to our present place that the physical move will be easier.

__________ Sun Aug 14, 2016 6:54 pm __________

WE GOT IT!! WE GOT IT!! :fireworks1: :fireworks1: :mbounce:

We got the tiny house and yard! The landlord sent me the rental agreement today. We're moving in sometime before the first.
We just have a couple of minor repairs to make beforehand, hooking up the kitchen faucet, and repairing a hole in the drywall
