My 10 week old male mini lop has recently (last hour) been pooping running yellow mucus-like stool. Before that his stool was a little soft, but now it looks like clear yellow snot with bits of stool mixed in. I feed him regular pellets and sometimes carrots and greens- the last time they had both greens and carrots was the night before last. He also has fresh hay and water available 24/7. He seems fine, he's been doing binkies and now he's sleeping, perhaps breathing a little too heavy. Where I live it's currently 4:38pm, the normal vets close at 4:30pm and the after hours vet opens at 6:00 so I can't take him to a vet right now. Any suggestions as to why his stool looks like this would be much appreciated!

I don't know what may have triggered this, but the usual course of action in any case of rabbit diarrhea is the same: remove the pellets and greens, feed hay and plain kitchen oatmeal -- the old-fashioned, large-flake kind is best. Lots of fresh water and an electrolyte solution will also help.
Here is a link to a recipe for a homemade electrolyte solution:

There are several plants whose leaves will help firm up the stools and these may be fed as well as the hay and oatmeal. They are very safe as green food for rabbits at any time. The leaves of blackberry, raspberry and strawberry are all excellent as are the lawn weeds plantain and shepherd's purse. I don't know if you have shepherd's purse but you should have some form of plantain-- it has spread everywhere in the world that Europeans have settled.

This is a very useful site about rabbit poop:
