According to our edible wild plant guide the ones that even a beginner can readily identify are puffballs, shaggy mane, common morel and sulfur shelf. The only one of those I've never seen or eaten is the morel--think we just don't have them in our woods. The other one we do have and can id easily are the oysters. We grew them once on logs and then recognized them growing wild--they have a distinctive smell which helps and nothing else really looks like or grows like them.
Don't know which of them might grow where you are. It can really help to find someone who knows mushrooms that grow in your area and is willing to look for them with you.
