Okay, we have our first grow-out does producing. they are Cal x NZW.

We bred them back to our NZW buck, and it looks like we have white ears and grey ears.

all of the first generation Cal x NZW have the Cal coloring, so Im guessing Cal color is dominant.

Does this mean the ones that are showing white ears got NZW genes only from mom? or do they have some Cal recessive something going on? Thanks, im a noob at this!
 
Cal colouring is one step up from rew. The first generation recieved one rew gene and one rew gene with a chl attached which would produce the cal colour. Now breeding these crosses together you have each parent with one of each gene . So you could get two rews together or two cals together or one of each. (which would show as cal) Each parent contributes one copy of every gene they have which then pair up in the offspring. In other words each parent contributes 50%. Being all white will not make them NZW's or considered purebred at this point.
