We have 2 pairs of American Fuzzy Lops and it seems that the females always have messy poo stuck under their tails. It's a constant mess that leaves us cutting off almost all the fur under their rear ends............. and it's a pain to do all the time.

Is there a fix for this, or is it just part of the breed? I'm thinking about getting rid of them because I'm tired of it.

They are all in different wire bottom cages so that their wastes can fall into the pan below. We feed them pellets and water daily, and from time to time hay and dried oats.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you!

We have Jersey Woolies... another fluffy breed.
There are one or two that seem to have similar issues with a messy butt.
I have found that when i treat those animals for coccidiosis ... using Baycox ( Not sulmet or the other ones) ... it clears up the problem very well.
It "seems to me" to be a low grade cocci infection. I might be incorrect... but this is my experience.
Hope it helps.
