:bunnyhop: TIFTON 9 HAY QUESTION :)

Hi everyone!
Quick question. I have been buying hay from Walmart but it gets pricey after a while (a small bag is $7. However, I found a local farmer that sells Tifton9 hay that is supposed to be for cows. I can get a 4x5 bale for $25. Any idea if this is good? I checked online and I hear people saying good things about it, but I also found some comments against it. Do you know anything about this type of hay to feed the rabbits? Thanks!

Tifton9 is just a strain/variety of Bahia grass, it has less protein and calories than Bermuda or Timothy and many horses won't eat it so be sure to let your rabbits try a sample before buying a 700 pound roll :)

Big rolls also tend to mold and go dusty quicker than 50# bales so make sure it hasn't seen rain, was stored inside and is "clean" as cows can eat anything and are not as sensitive to toxins as rabbits or even horses
