Within the last few days, my doe has started ... digging (easiest way to describe it) at the hutch door. I bred her back on the 29th of January but I'm assuming it didn't take. She just ate out all the hay and used the nest box as her bathroom. She has done this so much and with such force that she opened part of the hutch door. I have her hutch door secured by two hook and eye latches, and she consistently opened one of them. I thought someone was getting into the yard and messing with the rabbits until I watched her do it.
She has a salt lick, a wood chew, a water bottle, a house (now that the nest box is taken out), and a plastic baby toy. I don't have hay racks for any of the rabbits yet, but those are in the works so the hay is being put into the houses. They get fed their salad (with a rabbit cookie every other day) in the morning and hay twice a day.
I am at a loss as to why she started doing this. My pet rabbit has started to do it as well, they are in hutches next to each other. How can I get her to stop? I don't want her to hurt her paws. None of the rabbits nails are long enough to warrant clipping yet.
