Finished out an order for 50 of my hayracks yesterday. The folks really like them.
Tedious work, "one just like the last" but it's good that my pattern is attracting
attention.

Thanks for lookin'. I'm planning on putting an add on Craig's List to see
what kind of response I get. It'd be nice to make a few extra bucks.

*admits she stole your plan the first time you posted it and made a few for her cages*

They work great.

Wow, looks like you have been busy. They all look so uniform, like they came straight from a factory.

I've never accurately measured the amount of loss. But from appearance
there looks to be at least a 50% reduction in wasted hay. Plus, it's held
in place so it can't be stepped on.

One big advantage is the fact that one can really "cram" it full. Which forces
the stock to "nip-it" in to small pieces to eat. Plus, it keeps 'em busy fussin'
around tryin' to get a bite.

I do a "pieces" list before I start a repetitive project. Each group is cut all at
the same time.....plus a handful of extras. That way every matching piece is
exactly the same as the one before....and the one ahead.

The 50 hayracks DID NOT have 100 sides... :x :x :x LOL
There were 50 right-sides and 50 left-sides. Yeah, I get that picky when I
put something out there for folks to buy. OSB has a smooth side and a rough
side. I made sure all the smooth sides were exposed.

All joints were glued, then shot together with 1/4" 18-gauge. crown staples
of various lengths.

BTW: Marinea...I'm glad you like the style. ;) ;) ;)

Very nice Grumpy!

Hey you said that you are going to list these on CL??? You're pattern is BRILLIANT. Could I suggest that you don't use the pictures you posted here, but instead take some that are a bit farther away, or more blurry. With what you posted (pictures) it seems to look easy to copy your pattern.

If nothing else, just use the last 2 pictures, the one with the bunny and the one below. But on the bottom one photoshop it so that no one can actually see how the bottom is held into place.

:D

I decided to photoshop your bottom picture to hide the bottom of it. :D

I'd also like to know how much they are. I have a nice plastic hay feeder that hangs on the outside of the cage, but I haven't been able to find another one like it, even online. I bought a cheap hay feeder, but I really don't like the way it works.

Sorry for the long delay in a response folks. I flat forgot about this post. :x

I sell the racks for $3.50 a piece or $36.00 a dozen. If you're handy with
wood-working tools, they're a snap to make.

I hadn't thought about shipping. Spose I could find out the costs.
Lemme know.

Do you have any issues with rabbits getting frustrated and chewing on the wire? I would be worried about teeth?

None as of yet and these have been in use for quite a spell. No problems
that I can see.

Waiting for a price with shipping for a dozen :)

 Sorry, I'm a little slow right now.... I've got so many irons in the fire
I don't know which one to throw water on first.

I'm an elected school board member (2nd-term) and we've got serious
issues with several predatory administrator's. That problem has taken tons
of hours and it's not over yet. It's likely to get LOUD and nasty a week from
today when we have our open meeting. People are up in arms over this and
I cannot blame them.

I've hardly touched my book in weeks.

Then, my finger got "shortened" LOL..... I didn't get to sleep till around 5
this morning and up at 7:15 a.m. It's been a long day.

I apologize. I'll try to do better. I will need your zip code.

My zip is 25801 thanks! I wish you luck with your difficult position. Hope you get some time to yourself!

-- Thu Feb 26, 2015 5:48 pm --

Any update on that price with shipping?? :D
I'm hoping to have the hay feeders available by the time our babies are ready to go (March 25th) so I can offer them to the new owners!
