Hello! : Welcome to RabbitTalk

Long story short - my son (nee 2007) wanted a pet rabbit. After much research (and acknowledging that I would be doing most of the work), we decided on a Netherland Dwarf. Looking around, we found a reputable breeder. But instead of 1, we got 3 adult rabbits. Why not? I had the appropriate indoor space and time. Then the experience of "pet owner" evolved to "breeder" (after more research), and our trio grew to a herd of 9 adult rabbits in a very short period of time. I've been fortunate to get all my rabbits from helpful breeders with years of breeding and show experience. I have no desire to become a large rabbitry mainly because of time (although the indoor rabbit room could hold more holes). I'm a busy corporate guy by day, full-time single parent to two (nee 2007, 2013), and runner in between.

I support local animal shelters and encourage people to consider rabbits from them; however, I also appreciate shelters may not have what they are looking for (whether it is breed, personality/temperament, condition, etc.). I have become a huge fan of this breed (and rabbits in general). My goal is to produce rabbits that will improve the breed, and to help potential owners understand both the joys and responsibilities involved in owning a Netherland Dwarf. Admittedly, I enjoy social media - for work and my other non-rabbit interests - so no surprise that I am sharing my rabbit experiences via social media too.

I'm glad that I came across this forum and look forward to reading posts and continuing to learn about all aspects of keeping and breeding rabbits. Happy New Year!

I just started raising rabbits myself so I can't really give much advise.
If you have questions just post them and someone will be along to help. We have a very knowledgeable bunch of people here that are always ready to help out.

I get the feeling rabbits are a bigger deal percentage wise of the population in Canada than the US. Congrats on that!
