Well I have came to the conclusion that I am either....
a) being punished or b) being rewarded.....

Working in the bunny room this morning and I hear this
noise behind me. I turn around and see one of the angora
females rattling the hay rack. BIG mouthful of hay and
she bounces into the nest box. Sigh. I give her a handfull
on the floor of the cage and she grabs up that pile.
So I give her more. Repeat. She probably will have babes
within 24 hours. So now I know she was bred before
she got here. The other doe that looks like her is in
a cage by herself with a nest box. So far, nothing going
on with her. My guess she is probably bred also.

Alice the gray one, her 5 are doing great.
Eyes are now open. I bet they want out of the nest box soon.

Maybe I should sell off a few of the mini rex and free up some
cage space. Looks like the angoras are taking over......

Okay, best I can do with pics.
They would not stand still.

Two look harlequins.
One is gray with a light belly.
Two are the brown and black.

Looks like harlie, gray with light belly would be opal, and the brown and black (w/o a light belly) would be steel.

Is that even possible to get an opal, harlie and steel in the same litter, lol?

Well perhaps. Crazy genes :)

I have no clue what genes are at work here.

I will give it a few days again and try for a few more pics.

It could be the male I have here is the dad. Maybe not.
It is all a guess and by golly.

The second doe has built a nice nest. Nothing so far.
I will update if she does something :)

-- Tue Jun 10, 2014 6:28 am --

///////////////////////////////

I still have the angoras here. The one mom is doing very good with
her litter of 5, born May 5. She is gray and I am thinking of getting her
bred back. So could I use a broken rex on her for more colors ?
I am thinking of pets for the first generation.

The two mulit color does are looking really good now. I did
go ahead and breed one yesterday to the multi color buck. Neither of
the two mulit colors does had babies. But they did pull fur and go through
all the motions. They came here May 3, so odds are against them now,
to have been bred from the prior owner/s.

Okay, the above is from another post I made in another thread here.

I don't plan on using these rabbits for the fiber myself. Well that is the
current plan. But I am going to get the 3 does all bred and see what
happens. If someone gives me the right money, for the 4 adults, then
I would sell them. It is just going to be day by day for now though.
Basically feeling my way through this.

I have a lady interested in the fiber. I would prefer to sell the rabbits
and let her harvest the fur. So far, she is not interested in owning
live rabbits. Maybe later this fall might be a option for her.
Well she mentioned a fiber fair in September locally which got my
interest. So I just may have to to check that out :)
