I was told by the lady they were a calico.... I have never heard of that before so can you tell me what you thing?

They look like harlequins.i think she made up that color.

black japanese in colouration. many breeds carry that. the size of them suggests they might have harlequin in them. Do they have normal length fur?

yes she said the mother was a satin and the father was a satin/rex cross.

Yep - they are the Japanese variety of a harlequin. They look like black japanese harlequins, from the picture. Might be blue?

they probably get their colouration from the rex I should think...harlequin is fairly common in rexes.

I agree with Ladysown that their harlequin coloration/brindling probably came from the Rex part of the mix, especially because the doe's ears don't look anything like my Harlies- they are shorter and wider than I am used to seeing. They should make fine meaties for you.
