I imagin the addition of shredded pine cone would aid in my deep bedding :) The pine smell would help freshen up the shed.

Oh sending a 15 yr old to collect pine cones, not such a good idea ... he came back with only a few & a snake he found.

must be related to me-- I once brought a milk carton full of the tiniest tree toads home from camp one day..... there must have been about a hundred of those buggers!!! Mom was NOT pleased.. She rolled her eyes, we filed the kiddy pool with water, and placed them under a bush at the back of the yard....

I don't mind any extra critters around here & my kids know it. I'm more likely to pull the ... "but it followed me home" story then they are. Those lil buggers must have been adorable. I wont even get into my newest "followed me home story" since it isn't scheduled to happen till Sept. 10th

[quote="AprilW"If you spend a little extra money, golf balls are fun too.[/quote]

Hubs has a couple of brothers that are golf pros, and one brought us hundreds of golf balls- we have an old 4' ice chest full of them, and some 20g pots too! We do "extreme golf" off of our hill and have a pit of ash about 100-150 yards away as our 'hole'- the ash poofs when we hit the mark! My buns have ping pong balls already, but they might enjoy the heavier golf balls... hope Hubs and the kids don't mind sharing!

Do you mean loofah? The "natural sponge" that is a type of squash?

Because here, a 'loafer' is a soft, comfy man's shoe typically made of leather. I imagine they would work as back scratchers... especially raw... leather tends to get rather floppy when when boiled! Then again, cooking in the oven for a bit would probably make a stiffer back scratcher... ;)

I think I have some loofah seeds if that is indeed what you are referring to! :)

Pine cones could be used to stick in little treats like fruit perhaps, I've discovered from a toy-making website. Isn't that a cool idea? Yet to try that one as my kiddies only have had their bunnies for a few days now ;D

I never thought of that!

Come to think of it, you could stick hay inside whiffle balls, even... :P

I'm readin thru before making a whole new post and found this thread...With my concerns about roughage and getting a couple of the rabbits poo back as it should be i was looking for info on the pine cones.

What type of pine cone is safe and useful ??? we have three different kinds...

one is longish and slender.

one is stubby and chunky

then there are the hemlock pinecones... but i don't think they would be good to feed.

So would someone please bring me up to speed on the " proper feeding of pine cones" ???

Thank you. :bunnyhop:
