I tried initially to set up a blogroll, so I dragged a "Links" widget to my sidebar, since it was subtitled "Your blogroll". I expected something I could name and enter links into. I can choose between two names (okay, "Blogroll" will do), but there isn't anywhere to enter links. Just four checkboxes: Show Link Image, Show Link Name, Show Link Description, and Show Link Rating. Then Delete-Close-Save.

On my blog, it shows up:

OK, there is a section of your dashboard for this, and once you're familiar with it, it's pretty easy to maintain.

Look for your Link Manager section of the left menu in your dashboard, and once you expand it, it will look exactly like this:


The first menu entry under Links is also Links, click it to manage all your existing links. All those irrelevant ones that come with WP, you can delete or hide them, up to you.

The second link is for adding new links. A lot of the extra fields in there are totally optional, and you can ignore them. The main thing is to fill out the link url, title and description.

The last entry, Link Categories, will let you edit the name "Blogroll" to anything you want, as well as add more categories so you can organize your collection of links. You'll be able to edit any existing links to change their category later, so don't worry too much about what order you do things in.
