We have Holland Lops and Satins, my husband said my kids could get another breed in the Spring if they do a good job taking care of the cages and barn for the Winter. What is a good breed that you all enjoy? but not to much work to take care of, maybe 8lbs and under as well. And why do like raising that breed?

I raised Havanas for a long time when I was younger. The first time I moved away, I gave the herd to my cousins, and they sent them back and gave them to my sister when we returned, so we've essentially had the same herd of Havanas for nearly 8 years now.

They are generally 4-6lbs and are just the sweetest little rabbits I've ever met. They may not come in lots of colors, but they make excellent mothers and are easy to show and raise because they aren't overly fancy. There aren't a lot of disqualifications, so it isn't as easy to get discouraged on the show table like other more popular breeds, but there is a sufficient number of very good breeders to get nice stock from.

I like them because they fit every market. They are large enough and meaty enough to be used as meat animals, sweet and small enough to sell or keep as pets, and they are fun to show.

I don't know too much about the smaller breeds, Willow. But, Cait makes me want to run out and get some Havanas! LOL Have you thought about Thriantas?

My vote is for Lionhead and Lionhead lops [Lionlops]. If you can get great stock and breed quality, you may be able to get a nice niche. Lots sold are low quality[at least in my part of town] and that sucks.
They are tiny and just adorable!

Lionheads are supercute! My only concern is that they aren't showable yet...if Willow is looking for something to show, her kids won't be able to. They're almost worth it though ;)

Dutch make a good smaller rabbit that can be shown. The pattern might take a little more work to get right but they aren't as common with as much competition as some of the other small breeds like mini rex.

harlequin...up to about 8 lbs.

Polish! I love my sweet little polish. Easy to breed, easy to show. Small size. :)
