Here are the 4 newest members of my rabbit barn. I've decided to take on raising some blues, and believe I have a few good specimens to start off with:

The first is Sir Duke, my new buck. As with all my blues, I'm naming him after a music legend, and in this case, it's Duke Ellington.

The next picture is that of Ella, my blue doe. Her name is directly related to Sir Duke's name, and anyone who is familiar with the song "Sir Duke" by Stevie Wonder will understand why (There's Basie, Miller, Satchemo, and the king of all Sir Duke, and with a voice like Ella's ringing out...) The name Ella in those lyrics refers to Ella Fitzgerald, another music pioneer:

The next rabbit is a white satin doe, and her name is Natalya, named after female pro wrestler Natalya Neidhart. Her coat has more sheen than any other white I have in my barn, and for her age, she's developing very nicely:

The last doe is Loretta, a broken doe named after country music legeng Loretta Lynn. She will a mother in about 30 days:

No, they are blues. Lighting in that room is hideous.

The broken is my second. If you think she's something special, you oughta see Dottie:

As you can tell, Dottie isn't big on color, but she's got plenty of type. My problem is that I cannot get rabbits to pose for a camera shot right now.

Yeah, I needed another buck like I needed another gaping hole in my noggin, but at least now I'll have a white buck to breed with down the road with excellent sheen on his pelt. He's heads and shoulders above the rest of my white herd in that department.

What beautiful rabbits! I think I may find myself with mini Satins soon...

I hate to even suggest this, but have you checked Sir Duke for the SCF? Comparing the two, HBK (?) has a much more masculine head. Sir Duke has a heavier head than Ella, though. Is that amount of variation common in different lines, or is there a big difference in age between the two?

I'd be happy to have them in my barn, no matter the sex! Congrats!

LOL!!! Duke and Ella are as advertised (buck and doe). Between the 2, Ella will probably do better than Duke in most of the shows they go to this spring.

HBK is a little tyke. Odd that a white satin is as well developed as he is already, but it's going to be interesting to see how he develops over time. He has excellent sheen and a very good rise at the back.
