Thanks, I've always had mini satins so this is my first venture into wool and spinning and all that fascinating stuff.

They're gorgeous, sunrise! I'm especially partial to Allouette... you'll have some beautiful homespun yarns from them, I'm sure!

Re: My first two French Angoras
Pretty pretty! I want some FAs - I have toyed with a drop spindle a little and it's a very cool process. A consignment-ish type store (our town is FULL of them) had a spinning wheel that appeared to have all the parts and in fantastic shape - I wanted to buy it, but had the realization that I didn't really have anywhere to put it

Re: My first two French Angoras
I'm just learning the drop spindle, challenging but lots of fun. Easy to learn, but takes lots of practice to get it looking good. I'd like to get a wheel, so much faster than the spindle, but they can be a little pricey. Something else to save for!

I love my wheel, but yeah, it was definitely not a light-hearted purchase. But I will be getting my use out of it, I feel, so I'm not worried about the price I paid.

Just kidding, of course (although I've got a little rug that I sometimes use to take my wheel outside and make sure it doesn't get dirty). While I love spinning outside in the sunshine, it's true that the bulk of a wheel (even a little one) can make it a little unwieldy inside. I've tucked mine under a tall-ish desk we have to save on space a bit, when I'm not using it. Still need to find a way to organize my fiber, too.

Sunrise, you'll have to keep us updated on your spinning adventures, and these two precious balls of fibery love.

Will do Nymphadora! I will say, they are the friendliest rabbits I've ever had! Can't wait for their first molt so I can try spinning angora. I've only been practicing with wool so far.

I want to say the one I saw was under $200, and looking at other prices, I am tempted to go by tomorrow and see if she still has it

Re: My first two French Angoras
I have been looking into getting just one to see how it goes. I am trying to decide between a french and an english. IT may end up being which it closer to me at they mess with it price I want to pay. I have an eye on a buck that is recently plucked for twenty five which for a trial run it about what I want to pay for a first run. Gonna get some crochet needles and some yarn this week to practice on. There is a big fiber show in indiana mid month so I can pick some fiber up there along with a bunny. Sounds like a good time.

Re: My first two French Angoras
I would snatch that wheel up in a heartbeat at that price FRC, even if there's no room for it!! Love the garden idea, that could work, I'll put it on hubby's project list, LOL! I got the french because the grooming is much easier and I thought that would be the best way to start. Also SixGun lives very close and has french (that's a big plus!) Wasn't really sure if I'd like all the crochet and spinning stuff, but turns out I love it.

RUN! Go get that wheel, if it has all its parts and is in good condition, that's a steal!

That does sound like a good time.

I've been trying to find fiber shows in my area (because I haven't got much of a fiber stash yet, and I like to live a little dangerously

See, the problem is that I don't know if it does or not
