I made this cage so I can continue to add on to it. So far it is 24' long with seven cages. Each door is 2' x 2' height is 3' in front and a little over 2' in the rear . The next 12' will only be 2 cages 6' x 3' each. but will have some divider that I can add or remove as needed. I am using cardboard floor with hay over the 1/2 x 1/2 wire floor. I use rubbermade for the house. We had blowing rain the other night and the encloser did not get wet but for the first 2 to 3" so the over hangs did there job.

That looks great! We built one almost like that one, but we're slowly wanting to get away from wood. It's a pain to keep clean.

This is the first one we built, which is going to be used for quail now since the rabbits are in the garage.

What are you planning on going to besides wood??

I would assume hanging wire cages .... Its so much easier to keep clean.

Wood has a lot of drawbacks .... hard to clean , harbors bacteria & other pests - Fur mites being a big problem in my wood framed grow out pens.

We had some really good advice early on when we started. A friend turned us onto the wire cages, we hang and stack them 2 high. Hardly any upkeep.

Best bet is to go to a larger show in your area, and buy from a reputable cage company. Shipping makes cages almost to expensive to buy. I can drive about an hour and get a three tier 36 X 24 that I can divide if I need to, and its about 175. that's about half what I have in my double 30 x 30 hutch we built. From now on, I will get these tiers when I need cages. Look for the heaviest duty wire on the floor. I can't buy just wire that heavy around here.

We have been buying and very happy with Bass cages, shipping is expensive these days.

The next batch that we buy will be 36"x24" delivered they are $155 for four. $38 a piece, I can't build them out of wood and wire for less than that. If you can't get them at a show this is the best option I have been able to find. Note that if you get 30"x30" or 30"x36" cages they have a $5 per cage additional handling charge.

I know Trammell Treasures (I think that's the name) is a equipment vendor out of Georgia - you might want to look them up and see if they're close to you. Personally I have Bass cages, I'm happy with them although I don't have much to compare them to - Shipping for me was fairly cheap due to where I live.
