This is NOT my rabbit and not one of my breeding.

Mini rex. Appears to be female.
Rescued from a wild drop off by a lady who gave one of my rabbits an absolutely marvellous home.

This rabbit is being treated with baytril as it falls over, and when it hops it hugs surfaces. This treatment via a rabbit knowledgeable vet from New York.
ON baytril...it appears to be fine, but off, it is not.

Friendly.
Not toilet trained in any way shape or form. And this lady is knowledgeable about toilet-training rabbits. This is just a messy rabbit.
Small rabbit. (a mini-mini rex).

Apparently a really friendly lass, slightly cage aggressive but not nasty.
Needs a solid bottomed cage.

anyone interested in rehoming her?

I have NOT met this rabbit, just going by what she has told me.

she may not be litter trained because of her head tilt (even if her head isn't actually tilted that sounds like what she has)
likely causes of head tilt - EC or ear infection - baytril is one drug of choice but she probably needs more than that to actually beat back the disease to get it totally out of her system

gld she's ok on it - baytril is fairly safe drug long term

going to be very very hard to rehome a secial needs rabbit when healthy rabbits can't find homes :(

I don't mean to sound heartless, but given the difficulty of rehoming such a rabbit and the huge numbers of healthy rabbits that also need hones, perhaps it is time to consider euthanasia. No one can save them all and this rabbit does not sound like it has a lot going for it. It's a sad situation, but I think one needs to look at the larger picture and put one's efforts where they will do the most good.

oh, the person who currently has her understands that. BUT is also aware that sometimes people want to save one.

Considering that some guinea pig rescues will spends buckets of dollars trying to save pups born of a lethal mix....something is always possible.

I know one cat lady who all she does is take in feline leukemia cats. Someone has to take them in. Me...sick cat...can't treat it, infectious to others...TONS of cats in the world, why save this one? But sometimes homes can be found for the unlikely.

She is prepared to euthanize, but is still hopeful to find something, that she considers, better for it.

for sure - and I have placed head tilt bunnies and many other special needs critters over the years- as long as she's reared to be realistic it cna't hurt to look ...

I suspect bunny is in her home though ;)

therein lies the problem. :)

two healthy rabbits living out in the barn, with lovely grand accommodations. She doesn't want to risk them.

One S.O. in her house who wants the rabbit OUT of the house (as in yesterday) and a soft-hearted lady looking for a new home for a special needs bunny. She's trying hard and she's worked at it, but now that bunbuns is on the mend, S.O. is saying move it out or move it on.

She like me, wants to be highly respectful of her fellow and thereby bunbuns has to go.

i'd be surprised if bunny was contagious unless there was very direct contact ..

EC is shed as spores in the urine into the enviroment so yes this woman's other rabbits will be at risk. Its very hard to tell where the spores will end up.http://www.yourpetshealth.co.uk/page15.htmThis is a UK website, but they seem to have a rabbit specific wormer! Hopefully it ends up on this side of the pond!!

lots of different opionions out there
I certainly keep my head tilt rabbits far removed from any one else- only once did I have a group arrive with one head tilt rabbit who was in close proximity with the other rabbits- I was a little shocked but both the head tilt rabbit and the others seem to be fine 6 months later - I was very pleased that I could isolate Matilta for the week she was with me but quite worried about every one else ..

not sure if we want to delete it as it does contain some helpful information, but where else would it go?
