I have to share our new addition to the rabbitry. After YEARS of following Dr. Roush's progress with the tans, we were finally able to acquire one from him. I am absolutely elated! I can't wait to get a tan program going!

We haven't had any issues with the rabbits chewing the paint off the wire. The rustoleum has lasted well in both safety and efficiency, tried and true :-)
We completely clean and sanitize every 4-7 days. I just take a broom and brush all of the bedding into a trash can, then spray a disinfectant on the liner, dry, and lastly sprinkle with diatomaceous earth/wood shavings.
Update: Nest boxes
We decided to go with the outside hanging nest boxes by Pointer Hill. We couldn't be happier with them.
We painted them black (of course) and the rabbits seem noticeably happier as opposed to having the standard boxes in the cage.
The kits love them! And momma rabbits seem...
I have a litter of 2-week old kits, and within the past couple of days, three out of the five kits have suddenly experienced hair loss.
The hair loss is focused primarily on the crown of their heads and small areas on the hind legs. It leaves behind flakey and notably itchy patches.

Many of the ag groups I'm a member of on FB have uniquely resorted to selling "other" products in order to get their sales across...and so far it has been working out well, lol.
After having to reluctantly give up on my rabbitry a few years ago due to lifestyle changes, I'm finally getting back into the field! I couldn't be happier and I'm excited to get a new mini rex herd started.
