    Mature Doe, no Dewlap.

And country specific, too. While we allow small dewlaps in many breeds in the UK (apart from the breeds mentioned above), they are very heavily penalised in most of Europe.

    Breeding Holland Lops

Is he actually chocolate? There are many sable magpies around labelled 'chocolate' which are in fact black-based. Magpies can be chin-based or shaded-based - and if you want the best contrast, you will need to use the chin gene, avoiding shaded. While I know yours aren't showable, they are in...

Lost nursing doe due to blockage

Good luck! I've found it to be essential for my rabbit first-aid box and always have some in.

Can you get Fibreplex where you are? You might be able to find it on Amazon. It's a high-fibre paste with pre and probiotics, and can literally keep rabbits with digestive problems alive. When I hand-reared my orphan babies last year I added it to their milk from the start. Now they're fully...

    **Updated Hand Feeding Formula**

I'm in the UK, where we have wild Oryctolagus cuniculus. The wildlife rescue centre Secret World uses full-fat powdered goat's milk to hand-raise wild European rabbits.

Anyone working on mini rex X holland lops?

Plush Lops are a recognised breed in Australia and the UK.

    First time mom

I hope you can manage to build her up, as by the time the litter is 3 weeks old they will really be draining her. That's when I'd expect a doe to lose condition, if she does.

    Preparing for summer weather

They can still help - you'd need some ice in front of them to cool down the air. Otherwise you're just stirring around hot air for no benefit. Frozen bottles of water or frozen ceramic tiles for each hutch/cage would be better. Even if the rabbits don't sit or lie on them they will help to bring...

    Preparing for summer weather

The reason fans work for us is that we sweat all over our bodies, and the air from the fan evaporates it, cooling us down. Rabbits don't sweat, so it will be of limited value.

Tricolour to tricolour should be tri (from experience) but....

They just vary. Personally in Harlie/Tri Dutch breeding I prefer the dark ones over the lightly marked ones for breeding, as they seem to be less common. You can put a dark one to a light one to hopefully even out the colour distribution.

    Interesting kit colour - help?

Yes that'll be a sable frosty - you also have sable agoutis there and a siamese sable. To use BRC terms as you're in New Zealand which follows British Rabbit Council standards, it's a frosty point (unstandardised), and agouti sable/sable agouti (also unst).

Is there a market for rabbits?

They probably wouldn't! But reputation is all, especially these days with the internet where word can get round faster than the speed of light. You might even find yourself competing for sales with other breeders in your area.

Is there a market for rabbits?

Check the laws on deposits in your area. There were a few cases here in the UK during Covid where people had paid a deposit on puppies, then the breeders changed their minds, returned the deposits and declined to sell. It was decided in court that accepting a deposit was a contract of sale, so...

Is there a market for rabbits?

I agree with this. It can be a real hassle selling direct - people don't turn up, or they bring the whole family including 6 kids and both sets of grandparents, argue over price, fail to bring a suitable carrier or box with them, stay too long, change their minds, can't make up their minds, or...

    Cage height question

Yes be careful with the wavy roof stuff. The gaps between waves could allow rats to gain access unless you plan carefully and add a layer of wire below.
