    2 Week Old Kits

I take my nestboxes right out at two weeks, and while small the babies seem to do well. The only thing I do after that is add a brick so they can easily get to the pellets, hay and water valves.

    Shedding Buck?

I have a buck that is a little over a year old and he is shedding like it's going out of style. There is enough hair in his cage to make quite a few nice little nestboxes. The bottom of his cage is covered in hair, and I've tried brushing him (which he isn't fond of), but it dosen't appear to be...

    Timothy and clover mix hay

I feed my rabbits a grass/clover hay mix and I haven't had any issues with the rabbits health or anything along those lines. The only real issue i've had is that the clover portion of the bales (at least the ones I have) tend to get really "crumbly" and it leaves a pile of "clover dust" on the...

When do you wean your kits?

I also wean at four weeks. I rebreed my does at around 7-10 days after birth, so that gives the doe roughly a week/week and a half baby free.

    What's wrong with her?

I have a doe that does that. She was bred for the first time a few weeks ago and has done that every time I've walked into the hutch since. I always figured she was still upset with me and wanted to take every chance to let me know.

Rabbit in labor, flash floods are a coming!

I think you made the right call. Congrats on the babies!

    Algae in watering system?

I assume the rabbits can't drink the water when there is bleach added to it. Is that correct?

    Algae in watering system?

What are some things I could do to help ensure no algae is growing inside the pipes of my watering system? When cleaning out the bucket this evening, I noticed that aside from a bit of sand, there was a little slimy-ness to it. I know I can clean the bucket but what can I do about the PVC piping...

    Bunny Emergency?

I think I agree about the abortion. I think at this point I will simply wait to see what happens with a litter. After all, there is a chance she isn't pregnant at all. At this point, we've decided that Tinks is going to become an inside bunny. She's a wonderful rabbit and making her a...

    Bunny Emergency?

I will be uploading pictures shortly. OneAcreFarm, you are on to something. That looks like this, except this black bump is larger. How did you treat that? Did that bunny have to have surgery? __________ Tue Jan 22, 2013 1:32 pm __________ Pictures Attache __________ Tue Jan 22, 2013 10:27...

    Bunny Emergency?

Hardly a stupid idea, in fact I hope that's what this is! What should I be looking for when doing this warm compress? And just so I know, if it was a tissue necropsy of some sort what is the normal treatment for that? Antibotics? Cull? I don't recall reading about anyone having that sort of...

    Bunny Emergency?

It seems like a nipple could be somewhere in all that, but it's hard to say. It's huge, but it dosen't seem to match any of images that mastitis that google returns. As for look, it's black, kind of scaley. In fact, the best way I can describe it is like a scab, except larger in height. It's...

    Bunny Emergency?

I have a rabbit Tinkerbell (Californian), she had a litter over two weeks ago (three weeks friday). In going out to check on the babies, I found two dead and one almost dead so I brought it inside to warm up. The good news is I think we were able to save the baby bunny. However, before putting...

    Loss of Babies, possible mastitis?

I wondered if that would be the case, her previous litters were: 4 and 2 (and her previous owner reported litters of 4-6). Due to her small litter size, this was her last chance to show me she can be a good producer, otherwise she was going to the freezer. I'm feeling as though I should cull...

    Loss of Babies, possible mastitis?

Thanks everyone. Sadly, after going to the hutch for my mid day check, i found the last baby passed away. So what would cause enteritis on such a large scale? I normally have maybe 1 or 2 pass from large litters due to it, but never have i had so many deaths within days of each other.
