Possible health issue with new kits.

Update 2 All 3 died. Sad

Rabbit sold has died. What happened?

I would wager it was disease, possibly one on her end in her rabbitry. Without more information it is hard to tell if she was following proper isolation procedures. If she wasn't careful it is possible a disease her rabbits have was passed on to the rabbit you sold her. That makes more sense...

Possible health issue with new kits.

I know that part, getting them clean. UPDATE The runt of the 3 passed. Another one seems to be excreting sticky black stool. 3 times in the past few hours.

Possible health issue with new kits.

Hi there, I am having an issue with 1 day old kits. There are 3 kits, born yesterday 5/18. When I went to check on them this morning, 2 of them had fur/hay stuck to their bottoms. It was mixed with what appears to be urine/feces making a sticky mess that took some effort to remove. While I've...

Possible Californian with brindling??? (Need opinions)

    Doe #2

-- Mon Jun 04, 2018 11:56 am --

At this point they are 13 weeks old. Attached are 2 pics from a Cali litter I had at the same time. From this litter the parents are the NZxCali's half brother and mother. At this point my Cali's tend to have well defined...

Possible Californian with brindling??? (Need opinions)

Hi there I have a color identification question. I have two rabbits that I thought were REW's when they were born. It was a bit of a shock because it was a NZ magpie buck which was chd/c (known) and a NZ/Cali doe which I thought was C/ch. It was her first litter and when I got the all white...

Need help with splay rear feet

Hi everyone I am having difficulty dealing with splay feet with one of my rabbits. I have a three month old french angora rabbit with splay rear feet. It is probably a genetic issue with this little guy; none of his litter mates have this issue; he wasn't kept on a smooth surface; etc. I could...

    Rabbit Loss

Sorry to hear you lost both of your rabbits. When you are ready for it, I would suggest asking in another post (or this one) for help in trying to determine the cause of death if it all possible. You sound like you really cared for your rabbits and it would not surprise me if you got another...

    Weaning style survey

I go with leaving most of the kits in the original cage and moving the doe and a few kits (2-4) into a separate cage. Then I move the kits with the doe back into the original cage over a few days to ease up on the doe's milk production.

    Which do y'all like?

Great work TeaTime! If you would like other opinions I personally prefer the first teapot logo in post #3. (The one without the stool.) I don't necessarily mind a rabbit "floating in the air". My two cents is that, in a silhouette form, it takes a few seconds to mentally distinguish the rabbit...

Seeking replacement buck; is 6 pounds at 15 weeks good?

Short Story I am looking for a replacement California buck for my meat heard. I found someone online that has a 15 week old buck that weighs about 6 pounds. Dam is 10.75 pounds and Sire is 9.5 pounds. My meat rabbits don't make it past 12 weeks so I don't know if this sounds good, bad, so-so...

    Summer breeding

Could you please clarify, and put your location in your profile to aide in the advice (stealing MaggieJ's thunder). Did the doe only kindle one kit and it was born DOA; and thus you currently have no kits? Or did she kindle a litter of two or more kits and of that litter there was one kit that...

    I need help :(

Bad news, there is no easy fix. It'll probably take a lot of work, effort, scratches, frustration; and even then there isn't a guarantee it'll work. Every animal is different and are product of both nature and nurture. You may have just ended up with one that is inherently skittish or one that...
