My first two litters :)

Hey everyone, long time no visit to Rabbit Talk :) I bred my Champagne doe to a nice Champagne buck have a great litter of 9 kits, her first litter and she's an amazing mom. 6 kits survived, three died due to my own error. Anyway they are now 9 weeks old and doing well. Here are some pics of...

    Please help! Non-GMO Feed needed

Thank you Maggie, I feed hay every other day anyway. Sometimes more often if I think they are bored and haven't had a chance to let them out in the ex-pens. :)

    Please help! Non-GMO Feed needed

Does anyone know of any organic, non-gmo rabbit food that is high quality and high protein? Thanks in advance! :D

Well I feel really stupid. Hmmm...I went out later on yesterday afternoon after making the initial post about finding the little dead babies on the wire outside of the nest box. Later on I checked again and there were two more!!! Both were still alive, one was still nice and warm so I knew it...

Thanks Maggie! That seems like the logical explanation, they cannot climb out by themselves yet and I didn't see any wounds on them that make me think she was killing them on purpose. I guess the gluttons were eliminated....

Well she's down to five from 8. Two were out of the nest box this morning when I checked and another was cold and dead just on the inside. The others seem to be doing well.

Oh that you ALL for your supportive comments. I am so very excited, thrilled, in wonder at these new little lives. A funny thing happened a while ago I went to feed all the rabbits and I found a round, firm and bloodly clump of tissue in the hutch. I checked the babies and they seemed fine so...

    She Kindled day 32 **pic**

Thank you Maggie!! I went out and counted them -- 8 nice sized, uniform, healthy babies!! I removed a lot of bloody, matted nesting material and made sure there were no dead babes in the nest. Momma has been taking good care of them, they were all as full as ticks!

My First Butcher **Very Graphic Pics**

Hi Thundrr, I cut the skin around both the tail and the anal-genital area and leave that intact at frist. Then I skin. When I start gutting I cut the abdominal muscles then I snip the pelvic bone then disconnect the tail from the rest of the spine. At that point I spread the pelvis and the...

    She Kindled day 32 **pic**

Thank you, both of you for the support. After looking at ther earlier I am sure she is pregnant, no WAY did she look that huge before she was bred. I will be posting in a couple days, hopfully, to say I have a nice heatlhy litter. :)

__________ Sat May 28, 2011 9:26 pm __________<br...

thanks Maggie :) I went out and looked her over, picked her up for a second. Her belly is actually much larger than it was even just four days ago. If she's not pregnant she's exceptionally fat LOL. I will let nature take its course. i hope she kindles in the nest box. I don't think she...

Umm Ok, so my Champagne is ready to give bith in a couple days. The issue is I don't know if she is pregnant. She's got some sort of bi-lateral pooch to her tummy, but I wouldn't call it super huge or anything, and she's a good eater so Idk if it might just be fat. I tried palpating her about...

My First Butcher **Very Graphic Pics**

I wish I knew the answer to that!!! I don't have a scale yet, but plan on getting a digital food scale so I can take measurements of my baby buns as they grow. My larger NZ doe who was 7 months old was at least 6.5 pounds dressed weight.

I'm so glad you both found this useful. It didn't take me long to do both rabbits--about an hour for my first time isn't bad for two of them from kill-to-cleaned carcass.
